Masato Hanzawa

Hanzawa's trademark is his closed eyes, though throughout the story he is shown with his eyes open from time to time. He is usually shown with a smile on his face, though the smile does not always reach his eyes; he almost always fakes his smile. He has been described as terrifying even when he is smiling.

Hanzawa is an easily amused upperclassman who is a bit cryptic. Although he seems friendly, he is not an easy person to read. He generally remains calm and rarely raises his voice. He is also very observant, noticing and remembering small details about the people around him.

Between his various responsibilities, such as his two clubs and his position as dorm head in his second year, he still makes time to listen to his younger classmates and is there to help them whenever he can. He is often seen teasing his younger classmates such as Kagiura (because she likes Hirano), Miyano (because she might not grow any taller), and Tashiro, though it is usually not with any ill intentions.

At school, he is said to have excellent grades and participates in most extracurricular projects. He loves being busy and is sad to graduate.

Hanzawa means "half" (半) (han) and "swamp" (澤) (sawa/zawa). Masato means "elegant, graceful" (雅) ( masa ) and "person" (人) ( to ). Trivia Hanzawa's motto is to bring a smile every day. In his second year, Hanzawa is the chairman of the Disciplinary Committee, the captain of the Ping Pong Club, and the head of the dorm. Hanzawa's older sister, Masako, is a cosplayer. Hanzawa's grades are said to be better than Hirano's. Hanzawa's older brother, Masaomi, affectionately calls him Maa-kun. Hanzawa volunteers at a farm near the dorm on his days off. Sometimes, Hanzawa receives lunch boxes from friends from other schools, probably from his many girlfriends. Despite this, he claims that he is not interested in dating anyone. Hanzawa's power level is 43. The animal represented by Hanzawa is the tanuki, although it can also be represented by the eagle. Apparently, Hanzawa has a group chat with more than 100 people.

Hanzawa thought he liked Miyano because he doesn't know how to identify his feelings very well and he resented Sasaki when he and Miyano became a couple, even if Handawa has had several girls, none of them have been his official partner. Hanzawa hates being called superior or president
