Kyoka has a pragmatic, unenthusiastic, gruff, and teasing personality which she primarily displays towards those she finds irritating, such as her classmate Denki Kaminari, whose lack of knowledge makes him an easy target for her snide remarks. However, Kyoka is not always like this, as she enjoys socializing with others, in which case she is usually pleasant and friendly, most notably towards Momo Yaoyorozu and the other girls in her class.

Kyoka often gestures through her elongated earlobes instead of her hands. [4] She can also be quite aggressive, evidenced when she uses the headphone jacks provided to her by her Quirk to physically punish people when provoked or to keep them in line, most notably Denki and Minoru Mineta. However, during hero activities, Kyoka prefers more clever approaches, usually coming up with a plan herself. She is surprisingly organized and makes sure to convey her ideas in a way that is easy to understand.

Embarrassed Kyoka Although she appears cold and indifferent, Kyoka also has a much more sensitive side, being very defensive of her friends, empathetic to others' feelings, and becoming flustered when her talents and abilities are mentioned. [5] [6] [7] While Kyoka is difficult to fluster or surprise, she is afraid of horror-based activities and has an aversion to nudity. She is also slightly self-conscious about her appearance, and becomes noticeably upset when Minoru does not view her as attractive.

Like her parents, Kyoka has a keen interest in rock music and owns several instruments that she can play to a certain extent. However, she initially seemed to be a bit embarrassed by her interests, because she perceived them as something completely unrelated to heroism, but thanks to a great performance during the UA School Festival, she was able to overcome that mindset.

General Abilities: While she does not often employ the efficiency of hand-to-hand combat, Kyoka makes effective use of her wielding of her Quirk, the Headphone Jack. She utilizes the prehensile nature of her whip-like Headphone Jack Quirk, and uses the sound-generating effects of her Quirk to shock targets with vibrations, effectively stunning and sometimes defeating them. By the time of the Provisional Hero License Exam, Kyoka enhanced the effectiveness of her Quirk, allowing her to plug her headphone jacks into the ground and generate sound waves strong enough to shake the ground, cause fissures, and disrupt large enemy formations. Her skills eventually attracted the attention of Gang Orca, giving Kyoka the opportunity to intern under the No. 12 (formerly No. 10) Pro Hero and improve her searching techniques. On Nabu Island, Kyoka, alongside Mashirao Ojiro, acted as the fourth line of defense against Nine, effectively ambushing him before subduing the two with her Hydra Quirk. Soon after, Mashirao and Kyoka assisted Mezo Shoji against the powerful enemy, forcing Nine to use the full power of his Air Wall Quirk to defeat the trio of students.
