Usami Fuji is a character in the FX limited series, Shōgun, who is voiced by Moeka Hoshi.

Fuji's young life is marked by terrible tragedy, which would make her the saddest character if not for her unwavering sense of identity as a high-born lady, with a special pride and nobility. She is the granddaughter of Hiromatsu, Toranaga's best friend.

She has a distinctive appearance that reflects her Japanese heritage. Her hair is black and straight, often worn in a traditional style, which may include ornaments such as flowers or combs. Her skin is pale and creamy, which contrasts with the depth of her hair.

In terms of clothing, Usami often wears elaborate kimonos, which are a representation of Japanese culture, with rich patterns and colors ranging from muted to more vibrant hues. These kimonos are complemented with obi (belts) that highlight her figure. Her facial expression often reflects determination and strength, underscoring her role in the narrative. Overall, her appearance is a beautiful balance between tradition and feminine strength.

Fuji is an elegant and refined person, who protects those she loves, being very kind, caring and loving, she is not usually rude because she is very polite, on the other hand, she always apologizes for the slightest mistake, sometimes even being willing to give her life to correct said mistake.

After her husband, Tadayoshi, speaks out of turn and offends the Council of Regents, his punishment is to have his own child killed. A devastated Fuji refuses to hand over the baby to be executed. She even holds a knife to her own throat. Lady Mariko tries to calm her and convinces her to put down the knife and hand over the baby to be killed.

Days later, Hiromatsu brings Fuji the remains of her husband and son and tells her that his master has asked her to go to Ajiro that night. She agrees and accompanies them to Ajiro.

In Ajiro, Fuji begs Mariko to let her leave and become a nun because she would prefer that to serving a barbarian. Mariko insists that she trusts Lord Toranaga and only asks Fuji for one year of service, acting as John's consort. Fuji obliges and agrees to six months. She moves with him to his new home.

Fuji follows John everywhere, which initially annoys him. Later, he apologizes and gives her one of his best weapons. In return, she gives him her family's samurai swords, which is a great honor. They seem to begin to form a friendship.

Fuji welcomes Buntaro into her home, where he will be staying as a guest of the Anjin family and with his wife Mariko. Buntaro is displeased with the situation, but Fuji tries to maintain her pride and position as the consort of a hatamoto, ignoring Buntaro's rude comments. They all dine together, and Fuji is forced to watch Buntaro threaten and be rude to Mariko.

Later, John returns home, where the smelly, fly-covered pheasant (a gift from Toranaga) has disappeared, after John explicitly told no one to touch it. Fuji reveals that he was the gardener and tries to explain that he has been sentenced to death for the crime. This horrifies John. She begs him to end her life, but he tells her to leave.

An earthquake shakes the ground around Ajiro, and Fuji is injured, but survives the ordeal. John rushes to her aid.

After Toranaga gifts John a night with Kiku, Mariko and Fuji negotiate and arrange for their visit.

Later, Fuji is greeted by her grandfather Toda Hiromatsu, who compliments her on the cleanliness of her home. She tells him that she awaits death after her service to Toranaga to be reunited with her husband and son, but he asks her why she does not choose life instead.

Fuji tells Anjin that she will leave the next day to become a nun. She tells him that she is no longer his consort and that her service to Lord Toranaga is over.

Later, John takes Fuji to the water to release the ashes of her late husband and son. John also drops Mariko's rosary into the water to say goodbye.
