irena [the mermaid]

Irena has reddish blonde hair with a heart-shaped mark on the right side braided into two strands. Her bangs are layered and combed to one side. She also has golden yellow eyes with white pupils, raceless white skin, and a long mermaid tail the same color as her hair. She wears a burgundy kimono with lighter pink spots; the kimono also has white fluffy detailing towards the end of both sleeves and the hem of the garment.

Irena has an "older sister" personality, which shows that she cares about her friends. Despite her carefree attitude and light-hearted approach to serious situations, she can be mature and level-headed. She enjoys naps and snacks, which seems to keep her at home most of the time. She also enjoys singing, appropriately speaking in a sing-song voice. During a flashback and in-game, Irena often sends Wadanohara out to run errands on her behalf, as she is unable to walk on land (much to Samekichi's chagrin). In addition to naps, she routinely gives strong, prolonged hugs.

Reley Lo is Irena's younger sister. They seem to be on good terms, though Reley Lo is not often around due to her travels. Irena is slightly bothered by this, though she doesn't mind knowing that Reley is fine based on the letters she sends her. Her disappearance is said to be sudden given that Irena muses to herself at home about how she "can't believe her."

Samakichi:

Samekichi and Irena are acquaintances. Samekichi finds Irena somewhat annoying due to her frequently asking Wadanohara to run errands for her; he once exclaimed that Irena should have legs and run errands herself. In turn, Irena seems to enjoy teasing Samekichi. She once teased him about his jealousy towards Wadanohara, assuring him that no one would take her away from him, which made him nervous.

Despite this, they seem to get along quite well. Samekichi once asked Irena what kind of gift would make a girl happy. Irena knew he was referring to Wadanohara, so after teasing him for being a "womanizer", she suggested an ocarina. Samekichi took this advice and gifted Wadanohara an ocarina, which she deeply cherishes to this day. In the manga, when Irena notices the ocarina in Wadanohara's hands while Samekichi is away, she briefly monologues about him, wondering where he was and what he was doing when she is supposed to be by Wadanohara's side.

In a bonus comic in the manga, Irena and Tarako, who she was holding in her arms, smile mischievously at Samekichi's query about how close Wadanohara is to him. According to Irena, Wadanohara only did this to him. Samekichi then hides in a hole of shame.

Wadanohara:

Wadanohara is one of Irena's friends. Irena often sends Wadanohara out on errands for her, such as getting apples. When Wadanohara returned to the Blue Sea, Irena asked her if she wanted to sleep with her, to which Wadanohara refused because whenever the two sleep together, Irena would squeeze her.
