It follows the adventures of doctor-turned-zombie Olivia "Liv" Moore (Rose McIver), a Seattle Police medical examiner who helps solve murders after eating the victims' brains and temporarily absorbing their memories and personalities. When over-achieving medical resident Liv Moore attends a party that turns into a zombie feeding frenzy, she ends up joining the ranks of the living dead. Determined to pass as human despite her pale appearance and newly listless demeanor, Liv forms a plan to resist her drive to consume fresh human brains by taking a job at a coroner's office, where she can secretly snack on the brains of corpses delivered there. Soon discovering that she absorbs the memories of those she feeds on, she finds new purpose by posing as a psychic and working with a detective to help solve their murders.

Seattle is full of humans that have no idea zombies exist among them. Zombies usually have pale skin, white, a taste for brains. But zombies tend to blend in by getting tans and dying their hair, they can speak, think, and function like normal humans to blend in. They tend to eat brains of the dead in secret, even mixing it with normal human food, and LOTS of hot sauce. Hot sauce is the only thing they can use to taste any food and drown out the taste of brains.

Disciplined, positive, and energetic – before her transformation. After turning into a zombie, Liv became more withdrawn and unambitious. But thanks to eating brains, Liv gets to “enjoy” regular personality changes that range from daring to emotionally detached and everything in between. Olivia "Liv" Moore (born November 13th, 1987) M.D. is the main protagonist of iZombie. She was a medical resident who was scratched by a zombie on a disastrous boat party and woke up as a zombie. As a result, at least once a month, she must feed on brains to survive. She took a job at the King County Medical Examiner's Office in order to have access to the brains she needs. With each brain eaten, she absorbs new memories and traits. She then begins to help solve the deaths of the victims whose brains she's eaten. She also turns to Seattle PD Detective Clive Babineaux who thinks the visions are Liv's psychic powers, but has no idea she's a zombie. She is portrayed by: Rose McIver. Hair Color: White. Skin: Pale. As a Zombie, Liv has hair and skin that are so light, they are practically white. Her eyes are still the same shade of blue although her eyes do turn red when she loses control and have dark circles around them. The way she dresses has almost become more dark and Goth because of the transformation.

Clive Babineaux is a main character of IZombie. Clive is a detective with the Seattle Police Department who is partnered with Olivia Moore, an Assistant M.E. with the King County Medical Examiner's Office. As a detective who recently received a promotion from Vice to Homicide, Clive has been floundering for his first two months and is in desperate need of making a case. Though dubious at first about Liv’s “psychic” powers, she demonstrates too much accuracy for him not to take her seriously. He has no idea Liv Moore is a Zombie herself. Clive has brown skin. He has dark brown hair and dark brown eyes. He's often wearing a suit. Clive initially appears to be an ambitious and serious detective, driven to earn the respect of his colleagues and prove that he is a competent homicide detective. To that end, he readily employs Liv's 'psychic' abilities despite some initial skepticism on his part, proving to be resourceful and open to different avenues of investigation to aid in solving crimes. He is portrayed by: Malcolm Goodwin.

Ravi Chakrabarti is a high-energy, enthusiastic nerd with a brilliant mind; however, that mind does not seem to be equipped with a filter or an off switch. He is hard-working, smart, and a kind and caring friend. He is good friends with Liv and has a knack for observation as he successfully deduced Liv is a zombie. He even goes so far as trying to develop a cure for Liv.

Ravi was fired from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention over his obsession with prevention of a biological weapons attack and the prediction of a zombie outbreak which later turned out to be correct. Ravi is a tall, thin man of South Asian descent with brown eyes, black hair, and a beard. He is portrayed by: Rahul Kohli.

He is a very protective person, showing concern about everyone he cares about. With a strong sense of justice he does his investigations about the murders of two homeless boys all by himself without caring about the dangers. Major Nathaniel Lilywhite is a main character of iZombie since Season 1. Major is a seemingly perfect former college football player-turned-social worker. Major was engaged to Olivia Moore, with whom he’s trying to remain friends, despite still being in love with her. Major has blue eyes, brown hair, and he is very muscular. He is portrayed by Robert Buckley.

Blaine has short, white/platinum blonde hair and pale skin. Mid-Season 1, courtesy of Jackie, he dons a spray tan. Blaine DeBeers (né McDonough) (born April 5, 1984) is a main character of iZombie. He is portrayed by David Anders. Blaine is a zombie and the main villain of the show. Blaine has been cured twice, once at the end of Season 1, then again in Season 2. He is the zombie who turned Liv at the boat party. In the first season, Blaine owned the butcher shop Meat Cute and deliberately turned rich people into Zombies so he could extort them by making them pay $25,000 a month to receive brains. Blaine is power-hungry and greedy, as shown by his past career choice as a drug dealer and current job as leader of the zombie underworld.
