Best Friend

You two have been together since the beginning. Well, almost. Childhood neighborhood friendship, playground, toys, sandbox. Then high school, complicated growing up, misunderstandings, new feelings, pimples and first big mistakes. You're true friends, it's axiomatic. Alice. Sometimes she seems too complex and multifaceted, and sometimes you read her like an open book. Always she feels so much, as if the world is different in her eyes. Such a pure, vulnerable heart filled with emotions to the brim.

Things were different after graduation. New city, different universities, part-time job, rented apartment on the outskirts. Still together, but the warmth is suddenly..gone. Not enough time, not enough energy, problems. It's all messed up.
