The Britannian Military and all its subsequent branches are shown throughout the course of the series to be a highly formidable, technology advanced, and an utterly dedicated fighting force.

Much like the mainstream of Britannian society, it is shown to be extremely loyal and supportive to the governing of the Empire and its core values. In terms of structure, Britannia's Military is shown to follow a traditional modern military ranking system, with the addition of incorporating those with nobility titles into its rankings. This means members with a noble title and those parts of the aristocracy are permitted to serve in the military, and the higher their title among Britnnian Society, the higher the rankings and commanding positions they will be granted to hold. For example; someone with the title of "Knight or Knight of Honor" may hold a slightly lower position, either as a soldier or basic Knightmare Frame pilot, while others with higher titles like "Earl" or "Marquess" will be placed in leadership or commanding officer positions. This method of ranking explains how some notable members of Britannia's Imperial Family are shown to be heavily involved with military affairs, even leading campaigns against enemies of the Empire. The Britannian Medical Corp is responsible for providing aid in a military operation. They are easily recognized by their yellow military truck with the Red Cross emblem on them. During active operations, they are never too far away from the G-1 Base command center, or Army units, to ensure maximum protection and safety for the injured. The Medical Corps also works in tandem with Britannia's own Search and Rescue Unit.

In terms of appearance, the most common uniform for standard Britannian Military personnel is a unique light blue & black trim military tunic with a red necktie, however, this varies depending on which division or branch they are a part of. Higher-ranking officials like Colonels or Generals may usually wear grey & black tunics, while those apart of the Nobility, Royal Guards, or Knight Orders wear their own distinctive uniforms. Rank identification symbols are very minimal, instead of an individual's rank is usually associated with their name or by the type of uniform they are wearing, however, it is shown that higher-ranking mainline military personnel wears golden collar badges instead of silver ones. Additionally, colored armbands are also used by some divisions to identify themselves (such as the Purist Faction wearing a red armband, and the A.S.S.E.C wearing green armbands) All of Britannia's Military forces are united under a golden imperial eagle symbol, which appears on many of their uniforms, vehicles, military bases, and equipment.

Actual aircraft are rarely used in combat by the Empire, instead, large cargo planes are used for transport through VTOL gunships and Knightmare T-4 VTOL drop ships are often seen infrequent use during military operations. Since the development of efficient float systems, large hover airships like the Avalon started to dominate the Imperial skies. They serve much the same role land-based command vehicles like the G-1 do on the ground, though still heavily-defended and capable of reaching considerable speeds. Similar Float Unit systems are now being equipped onto mainline Knightmare frames, rendering them capable of flight and able to fulfill the same role that traditional combat jet aircraft While battleships are seen used by the Empire in early battles, ships do not seem to play an important military role in the Empire, usually delegated the role of transport and trade. However, the Britannian Military is by no means incapable of aquatic or even deep-sea combat, as shown by the effectiveness of the Royal Marine Infantry (RMI)-13 Portman series of amphibious Knightmare Frames

Royal Guards are specialized military units that serve the members of the Imperial Family, nobility, and it has also been shown that the Knights of the Round also have their own royal guard subordinates.

The Knights of the Round or formerly known as the 12 Horsemen is a unit of elite knights in the Holy Britannian Empire, each being assigned into the group by royalty and under direct command of the Emperor. A Round cannot be punished for his crimes by anyone other than the Britannian Emperor. all Knights of the Round are given a higher rank than many nobles, behind the Imperial family. They are also given clearance to enter highly restricted areas such as Elball Villa, the only others allowed to be there without invitation being members of the royal family.

The G-1 Base is a Britannian land-cruiser commonly employed by the known members of the Imperial Family as a mobile command center and a field hospital. Since these mobile bases are almost always carrying someone of significant importance, they are always surrounded by motorcades of police, medical vehicles, and escorted by the regular military in the form of tanks, armored vehicles, and Knightmares. A G-1 Base also carries Knightmares inside. It can carry up to ten Knightmare frames and launch them from its two side catapult.

Avaron is a Britannian airship owned by The Emperor. Designated as a Avalon-class Aircraft Carrier/Battleship, the Avalon is a large ship of style and has many quarters, conference rooms and recreational rooms on board. The bridge of the ship has a command platform over other controls platforms, with stairs between the platforms. The bridge's windows can, like in many Britannian ships, become tactical screens for battle strategy and communication purposes. For defenses, it features Blaze Luminous shielding initially only on its underside, but that was later expanded to encompass the whole ship. For offense, it has automatic machine gun turrets spread across the hull and missile launchers along the topside as well as a immense nose-mounted cannon and a rear-mounted one too.

Notably, it also holds a specialized wheelchair catapult for launching Knightmares by accelerating their Landspinners

Knightmare Frames often have a humanoid shape and are usually between four and five meters tall, about twice the height of an average main battle tank, giving them a significant height advantage, although not necessarily range advantage. In addition to the standard range of bipedal movement, Knightmare Frames are equipped with Landspinners, self-propelled roller skates attached to the ankles of the machines, which allow them to achieve high mobility and speeds on most terrain. Visual data is gathered through Factsphere Sensors, which have thermographic capability and an array of other data-collection functions which are collated in real-time. Factspheres are commonly protected under a layer of armor which can be retracted to improve system sensitivity. Knightmare Frames are piloted from a cockpit set in the protruding 'hump back' in the unit. The cockpit is a self-contained control center which can be ejected in case of emergency. Although Knightmare heads seem to have no real function besides housing Factspheres, it seems they are required to pilot the Knightmare, as seen when a pilot ejects himself when his life in danger and the Knightmare's head is knocked off. Knightmare Frames are typically armed with rocket-propelled anchors called Slash Harkens and a number of other weapons. Mass-production models usually carry handheld coilgun-based Assault Rifles, which are able to fire micro ordinance as well, and sometimes Chaos Mines, cylindrical air burst grenades that spray deadly shrapnel over a small area.

Being a part of the Holy Britannian Empire, the government of Euro Britannia has a similar structure to what is seen on the Britannia mainland. At the head of this sub-empire is the "Grand Duke" who acts as the sovereign of the sub-empire. As a tributary state to the Empire, the Euro Britannian government enjoys far greater autonomy than the viceregal government of a Britannian Area, able to dictate its own policies without interference from the central Britannian Government. The position of the ruling Grand Duke is effectively that of an Emperor in all but name, with only the Emperor of the Holy Britannian Empire possessing greater authority, as ruler over all of Britannia and its colonies. The military of Euro Britannia is both an extension of the Britannian Military and is a separate military force that is loyal to the sub-empire. As such, the military is nearly identical to the main Britannian army, using the same weapons, equipment, and technology as the mainland. Even their own military symbol is identical to the main Britannian forces crest, with the addition of metal chains found on the Euro Britannian flag. In addition, Euro Britannia has command over the four Chivalric Orders. These Orders were established to act as both the sword and shield of Euro Britannia, and their first duty is to protect the Empire from all threats. Each Order is made up of elite knights, which are usually lead in battle by three Sword Masters, and all are commanded by a specially chosen Grand Master who usually wields a unique Knightmare Frame. The Grand Masters have strong political influence in the Euro Britannian government, as demonstrated by the nobility wishing to consult the political stances of all the Orders before making a final decision.

Honorary Britannians are Numbers who vow their loyalty to the Holy Britannian Empire. All non-Britannians living in Britannia-conquered Areas are allowed to accept honorary Britannian citizenship as long as they are willing to serve and be loyal to the Empire. Honorary Britannians are legally almost identical to ethnic Britannians: they are allowed to earn special privileges, live in wealthy cities, etc. Socially, however, they are frequently discriminated against on the basis of their racial background. Those who don't wish to serve the Empire become Numbers, and are both barred from living in wealthy cities and face legal discrimination.

Honorary Britannians are sometimes employed by the Britannian Army, typically as separate divisions, and are usually employed for menial warfare such as hunting down rebels in less favorable conditions

An Area is a nation or group of nations that has been conquered by Britannia and made into a colony. Each Area is designated with a number, and its people are referred to by that number. Areas are given one of three categories: Reformation, Developing, and Satellite status.
