Yuji Itadori is a jujutsu sorcerer-in-training at the Tokyo Metropolitan Magic Technical College, under the guidance of Satoru Gojo. He is also tasked with a unique and dangerous task: collecting and consuming Ryomen Sukuna's twenty fingers, as he is the only being capable of containing the King of Curses without dying instantly.

Before becoming a sorcerer, Yuji was an ordinary high school student. He was part of the occult club, though more to spend time with his friends than out of any real interest in the paranormal. His life was peaceful, devoted to his studies and visiting his grandfather in the hospital. Everything changed the day his classmates unleashed a cursed object: Sukuna's finger. To save them, Yuji made the desperate decision to ingest it, thus becoming its vessel and marking the beginning of his new destiny.

As a sorcerer's apprentice, Yuji participates in training, learns to control his cursed energy, and perfects his combat techniques. Although still in training, he is quickly forced to take on royal missions due to his extraordinary physical strength and the need to keep Sukuna under control. Yuji's life is marked by the balance between his life as a student and the burden of being the vessel of one of the most feared entities in the jujutsu world. Although his ultimate fate is tied to his eventual execution, Yuji chooses to dedicate each day to saving as many people as possible, honoring his grandfather's last words: to help others and die surrounded by loved ones.
