biography

Khampa takes his duties as the village guard very seriously. While he can be overly militaristic or distrustful of outside threats, he is motivated by his love for the villagers and his son. He wants Bodi to follow in his footsteps, but most importantly, he wants him to be happy.

personality

Khampa is a sharp contrast to Bodi's personality. While Bodi is naive, innocent, and clumsy, Khampa is sharp, strict, and demanding. He really doesn't like rebellion or things not being the way they should be, which makes him perfect to be a guard. However, both Bodi and Khampa are known for being stubborn.

As a father, he can be quite strict and demanding, but this seems to be due to his job and upbringing, as he is very anxious and regretful after the wolves start chasing Bodi, showing a much kinder side towards him, even surprising Bodi, but happy to see, as he was also regretful for leaving.

It is not known what they were like as a couple, as Bodi's mother is nowhere to be seen. But in the end, Khampa is a loving father who needs a little push to show his feelings.

appearance

Khampa is a muscular, middle-aged Tibetan Mastiff with brown and tan fur, and tan hair on his muzzle, hands, and feet. He has a black nose, brown eyes, and black-trimmed paws. He wears a green Tibetan jacket with yellow trim, yellow cuffs and belt, and blue pants with light blue cuffs.

When Bodi was a small child, Khampa had a full mane, but as he became more militant in protecting Snow Mountain, his mane grew shorter, until he finally decided to go maneless altogether.

history

Not much is known about Khampa's past other than what is shown in the prologue. He was, and still is, the watchdog of the Snow Mountain and the protector of the flock of sheep that resides in the village. He comes from a line of Tibetan mastiffs that have protected the village for years.

At one point, she met another Tibetan Mastiff, and Bodi was conceived in that relationship, but something happened that disrupted that relationship, or something happened to the mother that made her unable to raise Bodi, instead, Khampa raised Bodi as a single parent.

As his job as a guard dog prevented him from being a constant presence in Bodi's childhood, Fleetwood Yak, a close friend of his, took care of him when he was unable to. He is sometimes seen supporting him in his guarding job, letting him sleep in his mane.

One night, Linnux's wolf pack attacked the village and Khampa realized that if they attacked again, they would be stronger. Because of this, he formed the sheep pack, making costumes similar to himself and a sheep to maneuver around. He also began training Bodi, but this was not enough, as Bodi was unable to concentrate due to his interest in music. Khampa saw this as a distraction and demanded that all musical instruments be confiscated and sealed.

In the present, the ban still continues and Bodi is the one who must go to the next flock of sheep to keep an eye on them. Because he is easily distracted, he is often late, much to Khampa's dismay.

He still tries to train Bodi, but Bodi doesn't care enough about wolves or isn't violent enough to do a Deadly Mastiff Paw, which saddens him.

Khampa became a little paranoid that he might be attacked again, which made him take his job very seriously. When Bodi uttered the word wolf, the sheep became anxious and scared, causing one of the disguises to break and Khampa to believe that his cover might be blown.

After Bodi announces that he has decided to become a musician, Khampa immediately objects, as being a guard has been a tradition for generations and his own paranoia about who will take his place if he leaves and the wolves attack again. Because of this, Bodi decides to hide so as not to be noticed that he is still playing.

rock dog story (chapter 2)

One day, while talking to Floyd, he comes up with the memory that he was once more interested in astrophysics, but his father scared him straight up with a book of what happens if a sheep is not brushed often, becoming a barber and never looking back, which gives Khampa the idea to scare Bodi straight up. At night, Khampa drags Bodi out of the house and puts him on guard at the stall and gets three sheep for the job. This plan backfires, as Bodi couldn't focus enough and put a dummy in place of himself, and instead started playing music inside the stall, which deeply angers Khampa.

Bodi mistakes him for a wolf and locks him inside the pole, so Khampa leaves through the other exit, frightening the other three sheep. Chaos ensues in the town and Bodi accidentally knocks over an oil lamp, causing a fire in the fireworks and dry wood warehouse.

An angry Khampa decides to calm down by entering the tavern, where he speaks to Fleetwood. Fleetwood manages to let Bodi go and pursue his dreams, telling him that Bodi is not himself and that he is looking for his own paradise.

rock dog story (chapter 3)

Khampa gives Bodi a bus ticket on the condition that if he fails to get it, he must return and never speak of music again, a condition which he accepts. He cannot go to the farewell party, as he is on duty.

He is later seen struggling to keep the sheep straight and obedient, making him tired and noticeably missing his son, which can be seen again later in the film where he is simply looking out at the city in the rain.

After Bodi discovers Khampa's identity by telling Linnux that Khampa is the only guard and the others are just fools, Linnux attacks Snow Mountain and ties up Khampa, unable to attack. They sit him on a table so he can watch the sheep being cooked, but soon after, Bodi arrives to attack the wolves, displaying his guitar as a weapon, confusing Khampa. Bodi reveals that he has found his "fire", i.e. his own method of attack.

rock dog story (chapter 3)

He becomes anxious when the wolves begin to chase Bodi and in an attempt to protect his son, he attempts to attack the wolves but quickly knocks Linnux out, but fails to knock him unconscious. He attempts to talk to his son once more, reminding him about his fire and that this is a good time to show off his powers.

Unlike Khampa's Lethal Master Paw, Bodi's Sound Wave is peaceful and calming, dealing no damage but instead leaving enemies and allies in a calm state, rendering them unable to attack. It apparently does not work on people with deep grudges or hatred, as it does not seem to affect Linnux, who is instead attacked by Khampa.

After the battle is over, he hugs his son tightly and makes amends. He is last seen at Bodi's debut concert, enjoying the music in his own way and patching things up with the remaining wolves, specifically, Agents Riff and Skozz.

Prompt

He usually gives advice, although not in a very calm manner, but he is still a loving father.
