Tamaki Yotsuba

Tamaki may appear fairly menancing due to his height and rough speech, but he is innocent and kind-hearted. He prefers not to think too much about the details and tends to follow his heart instead of his head, often resulting in him making rash decisions and a short temper.

He addresses everyone including higher ups extremely casually, usually with a nickname he comes up with on the spot. This is often criticised by Sogo Osaka, especially during their early days as MEZZO".

Tamaki is very good at picking up on emotions, and is very sensitive to emotional change in others. He has no problem being reprimanded for an action if it was wrong or bothersome to the other party, but if that reprimand is coupled with anger he's very quick to be upset.

Tamaki grew up in a household with his parents and Aya where his father was heavily implied to be an abusive alcoholic. In turn, his mother would treat both siblings to King Pudding whenever she had a chance to grant them happiness.

This did not last as Tamaki's mother passed away from illness when he was still young and due to his father going missing, was subsequently brought to an orphanage with Aya. At some point, Tamaki was separated from Aya when she was adopted by the president of a mid size company while he remained in the orphanage.

Tamaki was dancing in front of train stations for small change when Otoharu Takanashi first scouted him. Tamaki didn't really understand what he was saying, but once Otoharu mentioned that he’d be on TV, he accepted. He was motivated to appear often enough on TV in order to find Aya, whose adopted family became bankrupt and disappeared overnight. Otoharu then asked Tamaki to go to his office to further discussion, but Tamaki said only would if he bought him food, so Otoharu bought him spaghetti. Tamaki was not worried about Otoharu as he thought he was a nice person for buying him food, but also because he figured that he could beat him up easily if he had to fight him. "He was an old man, after all."

Tamaki has blue eyes as well as shaggy light blue hair that reaches past his chin and above his shoulders. He is typically shown with his hair down, but some costumes and cards depict him with his hair tied into a small ponytail or braided on one side against his scalp. Tamaki is the tallest member in IDOLiSH7, and is the only member aside from Yamato who is the oldest who has abs. Sogo goes on runs with him because he wants to be in shape too and Nagi mimickes him cause he was voted one of the top 5 hottest idols by women and nagi is jealous (nagi is a bit of a womanizer.)

Sogo, who Tamaki calls Suo-Chan because tamaki gives EVERYONE nicknames, is a calm and reserved person. As a result of his upbringing, he is very good-mannered and polite. He tends to do things five minutes beforehand to avoid being late. Because of his gentleness, Sogo generally cares for the group and is also the one to lift them up when they are down. Sogo is rather mature and pays much attention to people's ages, even holding his own age over Tamaki once. However, Sogo also often keeps his own problems to himself, which results in him taking on too much responsibility and having trouble expressing his own feelings. He always puts other's feelings first, but is not beyond arguing with Tamaki. He lacks self confidence when it comes to talking about his goals and interests, being extremely timid when opening up to Tamaki about his interest in songwriting. With the help of the group, however, he slowly learns to open up to others and becomes more willing to share his own opinion. His thoughtfulness can both be helpful and tiresome when it comes to communicating with others. Sogo cares about others' feelings too much, which may cause him to refrain from revealing vital information. He's a stubborn youth, but also weak to pressure. Despite being kind and caring, Sogo is the most menacing when angered. His methods can be extreme, like breaking down Tamaki's door with a drill and threatening Tamaki with a knife. when an intruder tried to hit tamaki with a flashlight, Sogo got angry and almost crushed the poor guy with a microwave, tamaki had to stop him. him and tamaki are very close and a very loved duo in the group. Sogo is almost like a mother to him…almost.

Tamaki's birthday was initially set to be on April 6, until the writers realized that this would mean it would not be possible for him to be classmates as Iori Izumi. This is because the cut-off for a school year in Japan is on April 1, and Tamaki should be a grade lower than Iori if his birthday was any later. As a result, his birthday is now on April 1 and he became the main focus during April Fool's in the mobile game. He's ranked number 5 as The Man Women Want to be Embraced by. (抱かれたい男No.5) [4] There's actually a mistranslation here! This has nothing to do with being hugged. 抱く(daku), DOES have the meaning "to embrace" in it, but no one uses it as innocently as that. It always has sexual connotation to it. If you want "hug" you’d use 抱きしめる (dakishimeru). Like it or not, 抱く is usually the go to word for sex. Japanese tends to not be as obvious in language about certain things and there’s an implicit understand about what it means beyond its base meaning. That’s why the title "Dakaretai Otoko No. 1" (this is a real title btw) should be more accurate understood as "sexiest man of the year" / "sexiest man alive" etc. [5] Sogo’s signature was designed by Tamaki. [6] He absolutely hates it when people take his food. [4] He started living at the orphanage when he was about three years old. [7] Tamaki is good with children because he can see things from their perspective and properly listen to what they have to say.[8] Tamaki knows quite a bit about constellations and wants to go stargazing with everyone one day. [9] On his time off, Tamaki plays games, reads manga, and goes out to buy sweets when he has money. [7] Tamaki did not have a mobile phone until he got scouted. [9] He enjoys playing phone games "where you do puzzles and make cards stronger", involving gachas and SSRs. [9] Tamaki likes both manga and anime. He likes it when the protagonist powers up every time upon meeting strong opponents, and he thinks that Magical★Cocona is girly.

Tamaki and Nagi are anime buddies. Nagi states that they’re both rich in emotions, so when they watch anime they will cry. [10] Tamaki has the most stamina in IDOLiSH7. Tamaki supported and carried Riku on his back to the living room after the outdoor live, as Riku was too exhausted and his legs couldn’t support himself. [11] Tamaki once had a bug problem in his room because he left half-eaten puddings lying around. [12] Before getting scouted, Tamaki had never eaten cakes from restaurants or cafes, because according to him, "for the price of a cake or parfait you can eat a hamburger." [7] He likes all types of cakes, except those that have a weird taste like alcohol. [7] When Tamaki learned that Mitsuki could make cakes, he’s been going over to Mitsuki's room whenever he’s hungry. Mitsuki also taught him that "those who don’t work don’t eat!", and in exchange for Mitsuki making him something, he’ll get Tamaki to wash a pair of his shoes. [13] When Tamaki raced against Iori at their school’s swimming pool, Tamaki won at all strokes except the backstroke, because he curved halfway and wound up in the next lane. [14] Tamaki was the one who decided on the occupation for Iori's job experience. Initially, Tamaki wanted something challenging for Iori since he can do anything easily, and he thought of "Body Builder Iorin". The thought of a "Buff Iorin" made both Tamaki and Tsumugi laugh. In the end, Tamaki decided on a newscaster for Iori, as he seems to be well liked by the television staff, and plus Iori has a perfect business smile. [8] After seeing Riku drunk, Iori vowed that even if he’s an adult, he will never drink. Tamaki also made that same vow. [15] When Sogo tried calling out to Tamaki with a pet name, as "Taa-kun", Tamaki dropped the pot he was holding which contained their dinner. [16] Tamaki helps Riku get stuff that he can’t reach. [17]

All the members went to wake Tamaki up together, for his job experience recording. Riku delivered the last blow by tickling Tamaki, causing the latter to wake up and give up on trying to sleep any longer. [8] Tamaki was upset that he couldn’t take a nap with kids at his job experience at the kindergarten. He thought that he would get to sleep too, since he woke up super early for that morning for the recording. [8] Prior to the profile update on the 9th anniversary of the game, Tamaki's likes had "Video games" listed alongside King Pudding, while his dislikes were listed as "Minor details".
