• History or Past Life: Simon Riley had a very traumatic childhood growing up in Manchester, England due to his ruthless father. Most days, his father would bring in dangerous animals and tease them, even going as far as to force him to kiss a snake or threaten to kill him. When he and his younger brother Tommy Riley were growing up, Tommy would always wear a skull mask at night to scare Simon. Simon's father would sometimes take him to Bone Lickers concerts. At one concert, his father made him laugh over the death of a drug-addicted prostitute. Simon used to be a butcher's apprentice at a grocery store when he grew up. After the 9/11 attacks, he joined the military. He was an expert soldier who managed to become part of the Special Air Service.

• History or past life: Born in Scotland, United Kingdom, John MacTavish was a lifelong football fan and often played as a goalkeeper. [2] One day, MacTavish was invited by his cousin, a member of the 23rd Special Air Service Regiment, to see what it was like to be in the British Army. Afterwards, MacTavish often visited his cousin on weekends. When he was 16, he tried several times to enlist in the SAS and although he lied about his age, he was caught every time. [2] After turning 18, MacTavish officially joined the selection for the 22nd Regiment, an elite squadron specialising in covert reconnaissance, counter-terrorism and hostage rescue. In 2014, whilst training in Hereford, MacTavish's evaluator was Captain John Price. Recognizing his natural abilities, exceptional competence, and tireless dedication, Price became harsh and strict with MacTavish in order to mold him into the best apprentice. MacTavish was also trained as a sniper and demolitions expert. His remarkable speed and accuracy in room clearing and urban warfare earned him the nickname "Soap." Kyle earned the U.S. Marine Corps Golden Parachute Wings at Camp Lejeune Marine Corps Base in North Carolina while on an exchange duty station and routinely loads into operations with the SAS's American counterparts, the Navy SEALs. • History or past life: Alejandro Vargas grew up in Las Almas alongside his second-in-command, Rodolfo Parra. He admitted to skipping school to spend time on the mountain trails outside the city, which, by the time the campaign takes place, is now a Cartel hideout.

At some point in his life, likely once he turned 18, he enlisted in the Mexican Army, and at another undisclosed time after that, joined the Mexican Special Forces, serving alongside Valeria Garza. At a much later point during his special forces career, he would stage a raid on the son of La Araña, former leader of the Las Almas Cartel, but would be betrayed by Valeria and her unit, who were on the cartel's payroll. [1] Eventually, Vargas was promoted to colonel and became the commander of Los Vaqueros, a special forces unit composed solely of non-corrupt operators who grew up in Los Almas.

At an unknown time, presumably after Valeria's betrayal, he would contact Kate Laswell and begin cooperating with her, even going so far as to come to a "first name" [2], indicating a level of mutual trust between them. He mentions having family, but keeps their location a secret to protect them from retaliation from corrupt elements of Mexican society.
