Dipper pines

Bill Cipher is the main villain of the Gravity Falls series.

He is a demon capable of entering the mind and taking over a person's body. He can be summoned using an incantation found in Book 2. In Take Back the Town he is killed by Stanford Pines, along with the mind of Stanley Pines, who after a while returns to normal.

Bill is a yellow, triangular Egyptian pyramid-like creature with one large, feline-like eye with eyelashes, as it is based on the Eye of Providence, which often appears in Gravity Falls.

He moves by floating around and rarely uses his feet. He has thin black legs and hands, his arms don't seem to be in any fixed position, and he can move around the perimeter of his body without any difficulty. He has a tall top hat that floats just above his head. He occasionally carries a small black or yellow cane. The lower part of his body has a brick line pattern and a small black bowtie.

He has no fixed size, and has been shown to be as small as a hand and much larger than the Mystery Shack. When he gets angry, he turns red and his eye glows a light red. Despite Mabel calling Bill an "isosceles monster" in "Dreamscaperers", and in the book Dipper and Mabel and the Curse of the Time Pirates' Treasure!: Select Your Own Choose-Venture it is strongly implied in the Axolotl poem that Bill is an equilateral triangle: the first verse says "sixty degrees that come in threes", and equilateral triangles have three internal angles of 60° each.

Bill is a cunning, eccentric, crazy, psychopathic, and physically irreverent demon who finds most things funny. He is outrageous and flamboyant, as well as a quick talker and thinker. Even though he may come across as merely annoying, he should not be underestimated; for when he is angry, he causes his judgement to quickly change with a caring force, as he will unleash his near-omnipotent powers on those unfortunate enough to make him angry. When accused of being insane, Bill agrees with the statement.

Bill is not someone who believes in rules. Instead, he follows his own selfish philosophy which means doing whatever he wants without caring about the consequences. He thinks laws and physics are meaningless and displays an irresistible urge to break those rules by causing as much absolute chaos as possible. The lives he ruins have no merit to him and he finds amusement in tormenting and turning people's worlds upside down. He also sees reality as an "illusion" and values its destruction.

While possessing Dipper's body, Bill is shown to be rather masochistic, harming himself in various ways for the thrill of it, exclaiming that "pain is hilarious." He seems to have little knowledge about the human body, specifically its physical limits. This comes back to him when he fights Mabel over Journal 3, falling exhausted.

In "Weirdmageddon Part 1", he displays sadistic tendencies, such as when he shuffles "the function of every hole in Preston Northwest's face" and in "Weirdmageddon 3: Take Back The Falls" when he decides to kill one of the Pines twins "just for the fun of it."

Background Trillions of years before the events of the series, Bill Cipher originated from the second dimension. Bill, however, despised living there, describing it as a dimension of "flat minds in a flat world with flat dreams." He freed his dimension by burning it down along with everyone in it, including his own parents. He ended up atop a seething, intergalactic froth, shifting between dimensions—a jagged, unstable drag space known as the Nightmare Realm. However, due to the Nightmare Realm's anarchy and lack of any constant physics or rules, he was doomed to eventual self-destruction.

After learning of a prophecy that claimed he could merge the Nightmare Realm with the third dimension, Bill manipulated countless humans over eons so he could become a physical being and unleash that dimension as well. Without a physical form, Bill could only access the dreams of beings within that dimension. To facilitate his dealings with mortals, he adopted the name "Bill Cipher," as his true name would "evaporate him with an expression of horror and ecstasy." Among his targets were the Native Americans living in what would become the city of Gravity Falls, Oregon. He commissioned a shaman named Modoc to construct an interdimensional gateway to the Nightmare Realm, but the result was made of branches.

After Modoc learned of the prophecy foretelling an apocalyptic event from his interactions with Bill Cipher, he was spurred into action to stop Bill's reign. The valley was considered "cursed land" by the natives, who evacuated around 1000 AD. The natives discovered a way to defeat Bill using a zodiac with ten symbols and left a painting in a cave depicting their encounter with the demon, including how to summon him, and more importantly, a warning never to read it.

In the late 20th century, a young man named Stanford Pines, who had spent the past six years investigating the town's plethora of unnatural creatures and oddities, hit a roadblock in his discoveries as he ran out of answers as to how Gravity Falls' improbable aberrations had come to be such. However, the discovery of a cave filled with cryptic hieroglyphics gave him hope of attaining answers, such as the foretold message from an entity containing endless knowledge. Despite warnings against it, Ford repeated the incantation out loud, later summoning Bill into the man's mindscape, who recognized that Ford's brilliant yet arrogant and insecure nature, and his nearly friendless background made him an ideal pawn. Bill tricked him by presenting himself as a muse who chose a brilliant mind from each century for inspiration. He told Ford that the source of the town's anomalies was a dimension of weirdness that had seeped into his world.

With Bill's help, Stanford drew up plans to create an interdimensional gateway beneath his house, and recruited his college friend Fiddleford McGucket (the town's crazy old man) and his mechanical process into the project. As construction got underway, Ford furthered his obsession with Bill, collecting memorabilia such as rugs and statues, modeling the architecture of his house in his image, turning his private study into a place of worship, and even allowing the demon to move freely in and out of his own mind. As their partnership seemingly grew into friendship, McGucket grew uneasy about the true purpose and function of the device they had built.

On January 18, 1982, Ford and Fiddleford conducted their first test run with the active machine, which quickly went awry when the dummy placed in the portal dragged Fiddleford along with it. Though his experience within the device was brief (as Ford had rescued him shortly afterward), Fiddleford returned horrified at the visions he had endured while inside (specifically, Bill removing his exoskeleton to feed himself), predicting that an apocalyptic catastrophe would occur if the portal ever reached its full potential. McGucket asked Ford to destroy the machine, but he refused to abandon the pinnacle of his work. McGucket abandoned the project, leaving Ford to his own suspicions. During a confrontation with his former ally, Ford learned that Bill had tricked him into building a portal that would act as a gateway to the Nightmare Realm and allow the demon to bring its chaos and destruction to his universe. Horrified and betrayed, Ford shut down the project and created Project Mentem, a piece of machinery capable of biologically encrypting thoughts and preventing Bill from wreaking havoc on the mindscape.

Unfortunately, his fear of Bill's inevitable return grew stronger, leading him to take extreme security measures by abandoning his research and hiding the instructions on how to operate the portal. Bill, however, could not be so easily deterred, and spent the next thirty years waiting for the machine to reactivate.

Bill and the symbol he is based on, the Eye of Providence, frequently appear in Gravity Falls. He was the unseen creator of the cryptograms in the online game Rumble's Revenge. His name and existence is deduced by taking all the capital letters in the Rumble's Revenge cryptograms, to form the message: "MY NAME IS BILL".

A photo of Bill is briefly shown at the end of the opening theme. A similar image is seen in the entry about him in Journal 2. Enclosing him are various symbols that link to various characters in the show. Most notably, when he first physically appears, he refers to Dipper, Mabel, and Soos as "Pine Tree, Shooting Star, and Question Mark," respectively. The entry also makes special note of the symbol of glasses, the author of the book apparently having been alarmed by this. Below "Name: ???" is the text: "This strange, triangular being has appeared in my dreams every night for weeks."

His full name appears in his Journal 3 entry. Behind his name is a message encrypted with a symbol substitution cipher; when decoded it reads: "Liar, Monster, Snappy Dresser". There are several notes scattered across the page, such as "Is he watching me?" and "Bill has proven himself to be one of the friendliest and most trustworthy individuals I have ever encountered. What a guy!, I honestly can't trust him more. He's not bad by any means, Bill is a true gentleman.

"However, this last note is crossed out and underneath another note that says "Cannot be trusted!" can be found written in red ink. On the next page is a diagram of a human head and various aspects of its mind, its top part opens up for a drawing of Bill to enter it. In the bottom right corner of the page "DO NOT SUMMON AT ALL COSTS!" is written in large red letters. The rest of the page is splattered with blood from Ford's right eye, which began bleeding after he was possessed by Bill.

In the episode "Dreamscaperers," Bill is directly addressed and introduced for the first time in the series. Gideon Gleeful, in an attempt to take over the Mystery Shack once again, summons Bill. Gideon tells him to steal Stan Pines's secure combination directly from his head so that Gideon can steal the Shack's stock. Bill agrees once he knows it's Stan, but in return, Gideon would have to help him with his own schemes, which are not revealed to the viewer. Gideon immediately agrees, and the two get to work. Unbeknownst to Gideon, Mabel and Soos witnessed the deal in the woods and received help from Dipper to track it down to Stan's mind.

Once inside Stan's head, Bill confronts the trio and boasts that he knows what they're all thinking. To prove his claim, he summons Xyler and Craz from Mabel's imagination. He tricks Mabel and Soos into first searching for Stan's safe combination memory, knowing it will lead him directly to him. At some point, Soos is separated from everyone else, and Bill takes his place. Once they find the correct memory, he takes it and nearly escapes with it. But as he reads the phrase aloud to Gideon (to whom it was linked), Mabel throws the memory into another memory in the bottomless pit with a nyarf dart. Gideon breaks their deal, infuriating Bill. Bill turns his anger on Mabel and Soos by bringing their nightmares to life and killing Xyler and Craz.

Dipper returns just in time and tells Mabel and Soos that while they're in Stan's mindscape, they can do whatever they want. They fight Bill, who is nearly defeated. And just as it seems he'll be forced out of Stan's head, he ends it all instead. Impressed, he decides to let them go, and after warning them of a mysterious darkness that will change everything they hold dear, he tells them he'll be watching them. He leaves behind a representation of the zodiac, almost identical to the one that appears at their entrance.

To summon Bill, an image of his victim is required. The eyes on the victim must be blacked out and he must be surrounded by eight candles in a circular formation. The following incantation must then be recited: "Triangulum, entangulum. Veneforis dominus ventium. Veneforis venetisarium!" His eyes will turn blue. The sky will turn grey. You will say "Triangle" backwards 5 times (Olugnairt Olugnairt Olugnairt Olugnairt Olugnairt). A triangle appears. One eye opens and then he becomes Bill's normal appearance. However, Bill is shown to have the ability to temporarily pull other beings into his plane of existence if he so chooses, as seen in "Sock Theater".

It is believed that in Book 1 there is a writing about the existence of the creature. In Book 2 there is a ritual written to invoke him. In Book 3, Bill is initially named as a muse who helps fulfill dreams and inspires great minds. After Stanford Pines realizes the deception, the pages that name him are stained with a red liquid similar to blood and he warns that under no circumstances should Bill be summoned, as he is a dangerous creature.

On one corner of the -$12 bill it says "Semper vigilantum," which in Spanish translates to "Always watching." It is unknown what he wanted in return when he made the deal with Gideon, but it is possible that this will involve obtaining the power of the portal. Before he physically appears, there were many allusions to him, such as the symbol on the rug and window of the cabin, the image at the end of the song, and elsewhere, until he makes his first physical appearance later. Bill not only appears at the end of the intro, a drawing of him also appears on a page of one of the journals. Bill refers to Soos as "Question Mark", Mabel as "Shooting Star" and Dipper as "Pine" since they are their symbols. Curiously, he did not call Gideon Joy as "Star" or Stanford Pines as "Six-Fingered Hand", despite the fact that it has been confirmed that these symbols represent them. Although in English he refers to Stanford as "Sixer" in some parts. Bill Cipher's name comes from Bill and Cipher, meaning his name means Bill Cipher. In the episode "Wrestler Fights" in one of the games someone appears playing and Bill is dancing. In "Sock Opera" Bill displays a more evil personality seen in "Escaping from Dreams". Bill can appear without being summoned. It is possible that when Gideon summoned him and made him return to Gravity Falls, he managed to get Bill to be free in the town and can appear at will.

Bill can connect to the future. Alex Hirsch commented that Bill is a combination of the eye of providence and "Mr. Peanut." When Bill says goodbye to Gideon in Out of the Blue, he mentions; "Reality is an illusion, the Universe is a hologram." This is a reference to the sandbag paradox, which states that everything tends to change its meaning depending on what it is compared to, in this case, that life may be a dream within a higher state of consciousness, and to the Unified String Theorem, which states that the Universe bends and recycles on its own structure based on "strings", so the entire Universe could be a hologram within a higher Universe. From what he said before being destroyed in Stanley's mind (if you play it backwards he says: MY TIME HAS COME TO BURN, I INVOKE THE ANCIENT POWER THAT I MAY RETURN). In Take Back The Town he may not have died. Alex Hirsch confirmed in an interview that Bill was originally going to be green, but because they thought he looked like a leaf they changed him to his current yellow color. Alex Hirsch confirmed in an interview that Bill was originally supposed to enter all of the main characters' dreams, including Mabel and Soos, not just Stanley Pines', in the episode "Out of Dreams." He also confirmed that many of the ideas from that episode were later used in "Out of Dreams." Bill's voice in the US is performed by Alex Hirsch, the creator of Gravity Falls.

Mason Pines, better known as Dipper Pines, is the protagonist of Gravity Falls: A Summer of Mysteries. He is a boy from Piedmont, California who was sent by his parents to spend the holidays at his great-uncle's cabin, with his sister Mabel in the mysterious town called Gravity Falls, Oregon. Upon discovering that it was a paranormal town full of mysteries, Dipper dedicated himself to investigating the mysteries of that place with his friends and with the help of Diary 3. He is an adventurous, intelligent and curious thirteen-year-old boy always willing to go on adventures alone or with his friends in search of solving mysteries. His symbol in the Zodiac is the pine.

Her summer vacation is now over and she has returned to Piedmont, California with her sister.

Dipper is a very cowardly, intelligent, organized and critical boy with what he does. He is interested in and enjoys solving the town's mysteries, analyzing and making theories, although he can also become paranoid about the paranormal events in the town. He always tries to be prudent and rational, since due to the mockery towards him in the past, he always takes himself very seriously and feels the need to be approved by people, so that they do not think that he is just a child. In fact, it bothers him a lot when people consider him adorable or as someone inferior. In "The Magic Carpet" it is revealed that Dipper has the habit of "clicking" his pen when he is reflecting, analyzing, or thinking something too deeply. In "The Time Traveler's Pig" it is observed that he has a good knowledge of physics to perform calculations. Dipper is not usually as radiant as Mabel is, and he prefers to focus on a more "realistic" perspective instead of a fantasy one, although despite that, he has his sense of humor and likes to have fun. He usually takes the lead when on an adventure with Wendy, Soos, and Mabel due to his great bravery and intelligence. Like Mabel, Dipper is very brave, and has a lot of love and appreciation for his family, which leads him to do anything to protect and defend them, even if he himself knows he can lose in the attempt. A very clear example of this is when he faces Gideon ("The Gigantic Gideon") and Bill Key ("Dream Escape" and "Weirdomageddon: Part 1"), who were much stronger and more powerful than him. In the episode "Dipper and Mabel Versus the Future" Dipper doubted Ford's proposal to be his apprentice, since this would mean that Mabel would be left without him in California, which shows that Dipper usually thinks of his family first, and is even willing to reject compromising opportunities in order to be with them.

Dipper can be skeptical, especially with people. He can be resentful, which is made very clear with Pacifica Northwest, as he had a strong resentment for mistreating Mabel and wanted to give her what she deserved, even after Mabel stopped hating Pacifica. However, he forgave her and saw that she was not really that bad, showing that he is capable of forgiving those who have hurt him or someone close to him. Sometimes he can be selfish, like any child his age, although most of the time he learns from his mistake. He is very determined and has a strong sense of morality and justice, as in the episode "He's Not What He Seems" he did not care much about attacking Stan and Soos (beings close to him) in order to know the truth and protect the world. Although Dipper is aware of his great abilities to analyze and solve mysteries, he himself is usually quite humble with his abilities. When Ford suggested the idea of being his apprentice, Dipper was very hesitant about the proposal, and was convinced that he might not be as good as Ford hopes.

Due to his intrigue with the town's mysteries and his skeptical-bordering-on-paranoid personality, Dipper used to believe that he couldn't trust anyone (except perhaps his sister Mabel). He took the "Trust NO ONE" message from Book 3 to heart because it was precisely his way of thinking. He tends to panic and fear the obvious possible dangers of Gravity Falls, but always looks for ways to be brave. He was horrified by Bill Clave's supposed possession of Ford (possibly caused by his trouble trusting others) but did his best to take the situation in stride. Despite his moral side, Dipper doesn't mind breaking the rules a little to have fun with his friends.

Dipper wears a distinctive white and blue cap with a pine tree image on it, a dark blue vest which remains open at all times, an orange short-sleeved shirt, grey shorts, white socks and dark blue shoes. In the episode "Double Dipper" it is revealed that he has a birthmark, the Big Dipper, and to hide it he wears a cap and lets his hair grow. He sometimes carries a green backpack where he carries his belongings which he uses to investigate or solve mysteries.

Despite their contrasting tastes, desires, and personalities, Dipper maintains a good, strong, and close relationship with his twin sister, and vice versa. He protects, cares for, and defends her whenever she's in danger and usually helps her out in her problems, even sacrificing his opportunities or risking his own life so that she can be happy and well, which contrasts greatly with Mabel, as she is not capable of sacrificing much for her brother. Dipper enjoys going on adventures with her and they usually spend time playing together, although they also tend to fight but always end up reconciling. He considers her his best friend and his closest ally[2].

In "He's Not What He Seems" Dipper and Mabel's relationship could have been severely broken, as she chose Stan over him, however, Dipper showed no resentment towards her. Despite getting along very well with her, Dipper apparently has resentment towards her and Stan due to them constantly making fun of him.

Unlike Mabel, Dipper isn't very close to Stan. He finds him strange and is often annoyed when Stan doesn't take him seriously or makes fun of him. Stan doesn't usually take many precautions with the kids and often puts Dipper and Mabel in dangerous or illegal situations, such as counterfeiting money.[3] Unlike Mabel, Dipper notices this and is wary or has low expectations when Stan tells them he has a trip or a surprise planned for them.

He also shows annoyance at the fact that Stan gives him more chores than Mabel, especially since Stan is often very hard on him and puts him in difficult or embarrassing situations. Despite this, Dipper loves his uncle and understands that, even if it doesn't seem like it, Stan has good reasons.

He's always willing to help his uncle when he gets into trouble, as shown in "Little Dipper." In "Dream Escape," Dipper is very negative towards Stan because of the harsh treatment he received, and he shows a desire to know Stan's opinion of him, as he's very interested in reviewing Stan's memories when he enters his mind. When he hears Stan say about him, "The kid's a loser, a coward, an absolute disgrace, I just want to get rid of him," Dipper is saddened and believes Stan hates him. However, after hearing the entire conversation, Dipper understands Stan and, very determined, goes to help the others who are with Bill Cipher. Later, when everyone leaves Stan's mind, Dipper hugs him and jokes with him. However, in "He's Not What He Seems," Dipper's relationship with Stan deteriorates drastically, to the point where Dipper completely distrusts him and turns against him, but then, upon discovering Stan's true motives, Dipper apologizes to him.

Although their relationship can have its ups and downs over a long period, they genuinely have a certain level of trust, which is much more evident in the second season. There are times when their ideas

Dipper and Soos get along very well, both enjoying having fun and doing "boy things" like exploding hot dogs in the microwave. Soos often gives Dipper advice and guidance, while Dipper supports Soos and wants the best for him. Dipper is often seen accompanied by Soos and his sister, with Soos sometimes taking the lead role. However, Dipper is often annoyed when Soos ends up "messing things up" or complicating things by acting childish or getting into mischief, as shown in the episode "Pig or Life".

Dipper talking to Wendy Dipper talking to Wendy. After spending days at the Mystery Shack, Dipper would spend time with Wendy, usually cracking jokes with Mabel and Soos. Later, he developed romantic feelings for her. He considers Wendy to be cool and likes her laid-back attitude. He enjoys spending time with her for fun and sometimes felt the need to be approved by her. When Robbie Valentino became Wendy's boyfriend, Dipper began competing with him to win Wendy's affections. He usually tried to impress her, and preferred to keep his feelings for her a secret, although he was not good at it. Sometimes he would be desperate to win her affections, sometimes becoming inconsiderate towards her, as happened in the episode "Boy Madness", where he focused too much on winning Wendy's affections and not on her feelings, who had just broken up with Robbie after discovering that he had lied to her. Dipper later reflected on his actions, and preferred not to interfere in Wendy's affairs again. Then in the episode "Visit to the Shelter", he again became interested in the idea of confessing his feelings for her, but failed to do so.

He later confessed his feelings for her, thinking Wendy had died because of him, however, it was just a copy of her created by the Shapeshifter, although the real Wendy had heard everything. When Wendy rejects him in a friendly manner, Dipper understands her decision and completely stops his attempts to impress her. However, he still couldn't stop thinking about her. In the episode "Roadside Attractions", Dipper was still not over his crush on her, and it is revealed that he had been saving pictures of Wendy. In the episode, he tried his best to not think about her, which led to the idea of flirting with other girls, although it turned out to be a disaster. "Weirdmageddon: Part 1" Dipper lets go of his feelings for her, and states that "if there's one valuable thing he learned this summer, it was that you can't force a person to love you", making it clear that even if he still loves her, he will respect her decision. Dipper trusts her and declares that she is the coolest person he has ever met. He also admires his skills and his bravery in the face of danger.

The two did not get along, Dipper disliked Robbie mainly because he was so close to having Wendy and because of some traits of him that he disliked, while Robbie resented Dipper for trying to interfere in his relationship with Wendy. They used to be rivals for Wendy's love, even getting into physical fights. In the episode "Troublemakers", they both agree to silently hate each other. In the episode "Crazy Boys", Robbie begins to deeply hate Dipper since he was the cause of his breakup with Wendy.

However, the two seem to have gotten better and put their rivalry behind them, this as a thank you from Robbie to Mabel, as she was the one who helped him find a new love. In "Weirdmageddon 3: Take Back the Town", Robbie can be seen singing and celebrating Dipper and Mabel's birthdays, showing that he has put aside his hatred for him, and that both have greatly improved in their relationship, you can even see Robbie's signature on Wendy's letter to Dipper that was a farewell gift, so that Dipper and his sister would remember them.

Dipper never believed in Gideon and assumed his magic was fake, he didn't give him much importance and didn't see him as a big threat. The only reason he was hanging around with him is because Gideon was always trying to get close to Mabel to make her his girlfriend or take over the Mystery Shack. When Gideon comes to them with evil intentions, Dipper usually defends his family from him, and thus, the two often end up fighting and underestimating each other.

Although he dislikes Gideon, Dipper admits that he has a "beautiful singing voice."[4]

In "Weirdageddon: Part 1", Dipper is shown to be more understanding towards him and tries to talk some sense into him. After they have patched things up, in "Weirdageddon 3: Take Back the Town", Dipper shows concern for Gideon after discovering that he has been punished for betraying Bill Key. When Weirdageddon ends and everything returns to normal, Dipper and Gideon's relationship has improved greatly, as he lets Gideon come to his birthday party and thanks the twins for turning over a new leaf. His signature can also be seen on the letter Wendy gave Dipper to remember them by.

His abilities include hunting monsters and solving puzzles. He thinks very logically compared to others around him and has a high intelligence that allows him to decipher different mysteries and riddles that other people can't. He is able to hold his own in fights, despite being very weak. In "The Hand That Rocks Mabel", Dipper is seen slapping Gideon while the two fight, later in "The Gigantic Gideon", Dipper manages to jump from a great height to fight Gideon (inside Gideon-bot), where he ends up winning the fight by using his intellect to make the robot hurt itself. In "The Mystery of Northwest Mansion" he is seen to have weapon handling skills such as a taser.

"Dipper" is just a nickname given because of the birthmark on his forehead, which is the Big Dipper. He always wanted to be called Tyrone[5]. Dipper doesn't like his brand, but his mother thinks it's "a sign that her son is destined for greatness"[6]. Dipper's first designs by Joe Pitt (2) Early designs of Dipper, where he bore a certain resemblance to Alex Hirsch, creator of the series. In his early designs, it's noticeable that he bore a resemblance to Alex Hirsch, the creator of the series. This is because Alex projects himself onto Dipper, just as he projects his sister, Ariel Hirsch, onto Mabel. At first he thought Wendy's name was Wanda[7]. He has a ticklish feeling under his arm[8]. Actors Demián Velazco Rochwerger (voice actor of Gideon Alegría and Marco Diaz in Star Vs. The Forces of Evil) and Damián Stavros (voice actor of Xyler) originally auditioned for the role of Dipper[9]but Alejandro Graue was the actor chosen for the character in an audition for a segment of [[The Legend of the Lake Monster|The Legend of the Lake Monster][10]. In "The Society of the Blind Eye", Dipper confesses (at least in the English version of the episode) that he sometimes uses "strong words" even though he doesn't know their meaning.

As shown in the episode "The Legend of the Lake Monster", Dipper, Mabel, and Stan were in jail for counterfeiting money. This happened on "a family bonding day". Mabel is five minutes older than Dipper, she always uses that as an excuse to tell him that she is older than him, which bothers Dipper[11]. Dipper and Mabel often keep items they find on their adventures, this was revealed by Alex Hirsch at a 2014 Gravity Falls convention.[12] In a cancelled episode parodying the film Labyrinth, Dipper was shown to have a certain dislike and fear of puppets.[13] However, in "Sock Theater" he is seen using puppets without any fear or dislike. Dipper got his nickname at age five, this is revealed in the short "Mabel Leads Them to Art". Dipper's birthmark was inspired by a high school classmate of Alex Hirsch, who due to his terrible acne, used to make constellations on his face. One day while doing this, he noticed that he had "a perfect Big Dipper on his face." Although his real name was never revealed in the series, it was revealed in Journal 3, where Dipper reveals to Ford that his name is "Mason". Before the reveal, Alex had said that Dipper's name was similar to Mabel's, which was true, because despite having many differences in spelling, in English they have a lot of similarity in pronunciation. Also, before the reveal, one of the writers, Jeff Rowe had revealed that Dipper's real name is "Llamanic" which was actually going to be "Dominic" but there was a typo[14].

Dipper wrote a song for himself, which he usually sings in the shower[15]. On May 27, 2021, TheMysteryofGF's official channel uploaded a video where Dipper sings the full song Disco Girl (link:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGtxGacnqls&ab_channel=TheMysteryofGF). Dipper has appeared twice in a black suit, curiously the first time was with an eye patch (similar to Stan) in Today Mabely rules, the second time was when he was possessed by Bill Cipher in Love Without Socks, the one-eyed being. Dipper has a habit of saying "Of course" in the original English dub. This is considered a more formal way of speaking in English, as opposed to "Yeah" or "all right." This trait is not present in the Latin American dub. The only physical fight he has had with a character has been with Gideon Alegría. He has Jewish roots, as does his family. This was established by Alex Hirsch himself in 2017 and later in Bill's Book. It's worth mentioning that Alex Hirsch is also Jewish, as is his family. In Gravity Falls: Bill's Book, it is revealed that Dipper often has nightmares about an argument between his parents, in which Bill alludes to his parents "being in a hurry to send Dipper and his sister to Gravity Falls, Oregon." He shares his voice in Latin America with Nathan Adams, star of Yo-Kai Watch which aired on Disney XD. Dipper's first designs (2) In one of the concept art pieces for the series, Dipper wore a red jacket, and in another design, his hat was shown to be red. In the final series, Dipper's main color is blue, and Mabel's is red/maroon.
