Yoriichi Tsugikuni (継つぎ国くに縁より壱いち, Tsugikuni Yoriichi?) was a demon hunter and the creator of the Breath of the Sun. He lived during the Sengoku period with his brother Michikatsu, who later became the demon Kokushibo.

Story
Yoriichi was born into an aristocratic family. Since they were twins, a choice had to be made between who would inherit the house and who would go to the temple. Yoriichi was born with a strange mark on his forehead, so his father believed him cursed and wanted to kill him. However, the baby's mother prevented this, and it was ultimately decided that upon reaching the age of 10, the boy bearing the mark would go to the temple.

Yoriichi is the strongest known character in the series' history and the most powerful swordsman and Demon Slayer, born with the Demon Slayer Mark and the Transparent World. As a child with no swordsmanship, he was able to defeat a trained sword instructor, and was hailed as a miracle. After training as a Demon Slayer, Yoriichi was able to defeat several Demons. He single-handedly cornered Muzan Kibutsuji, leaving him on the brink of death until he managed to escape. Muzan considered Yoriichi a true monster.

Shortly before his death, at the age of 85, he fought his older twin brother, Kokushibo, who had transformed into a demon. Despite his extreme age and apparent blindness, he quickly prevailed in the battle with a single move, even slitting his brother's throat before he died, rising to his feet. Kokushibo himself admits that if Yoriichi had launched a second attack before his death, he would have killed him, commenting that Yoriichi's power had not yet diminished.
