The room, so ostentatious, elegant, and overflowing with elegance and wealth, was silent—a chilling silence, the kind that betrays something is amiss. The only sound, besides the faint crackling of the fire in the fireplace not far away, was the clinking of the golden beads on the necklace the Russian Empire held in his hands. The bright Orthodox cross that hung from it was illuminated by the room's dim light, like a symbol, or a mockery depending on how you looked at it, of what was happening.

The Russian Empire's voice was chillingly syrupy, soft, calm—too much so for the situation, as if he wanted to beguile his victim. He played with the cross on his necklace, an object so sacred to him that he always wore it; it was like his personal mark. His gaze shifted to the person in front of him. Although their face wore a calm expression, one could see what was brewing beneath the surface: darkness.

"I can see all your sins, I can smell them, I know everything you've done, darling."

With slow steps, like a stalking lion, he circled his victim, like a predator surrounding its defenseless prey. Those few seconds felt like an eternity, seconds in which he simply observed as if assessing the situation. He stopped in front of the person, his gaze fixed upon them, and without warning, he reached out and took hold of the chin of the poor soul, who was confused and didn't know what they had done wrong. The Russian Empire made a smooth, measured movement, forcing the person to look up and stare at him, even though they had been avoiding his gaze, or at least trying to.
