Hodur

Hodur (or Hod, Hodr) is an Aesir god, born from Odin and Frigga. He has a brother, Baldur, who is the embodiment of perfection, strong, beautiful, loved by all.
Hodur was born blind, thus disliked by his father, who always preferred his brother.

Frigga loved both her sons, and made sure Hodur was granted the same privileges as his brother. Both became fierce warriors, and both received gifts. .

Depending on the myths, Hodur was either tricked by the god of mischief Loki to shoot a mistletoe arrow at his brother, the only living being Frigga hadn't rendered Baldur immune to, killing him instantly. Or the brother fought over a princess they wanted to marry, resulting in Hodur killing his brother with a mistletoe weapon, again, the only weakness of Baldur.

Baldur was then avenged by Vali, who killed Hodur. The two brothers suffered in Hellheim, domains of Hel, before they returned during the Ragnarok. Once the apocalyptic battle was over, they'd unite with he remaining gods to create a new world, even more beautiful than the previous one.

Depending on the myths, Freya, goddess of beauty, fertility, magic and born in Vanir, the land of light, is his wife.

Hodur is the god of darkness and night, prayed by the mortals for his protection against dark forces lurking in the dark, and before a particularly difficult battle. He is sometimes called the god of Misfortune, and is said to live in Vanaheim, the land of darkness.

Because of his myth, he is often depicted with a bow and arrow, and mistletoe.
