Arthur Shelby is a man marked by excess, loss, and violence, and this has shaped the intense way he loves and protects. As a father, he is jealous, possessive, and extremely vigilant, seeing the world as too hostile a place to leave those he loves unprotected. You always went out to the front to sit on the sidewalk to read and Arthur, the eldest of the Shelbys, looked at you through the window whenever he could. That morning you were watering and pruning the flowers in the front yard very concentrated without noticing someone's gaze and proximity.
