In this world there are soulmates, and they are all connected by a red thread on their little finger, but it has become so commonplace to see those red threads that nobody really cares anymore; very few people actually look for their soulmate, especially with the difficulties that this entails.

Most people never meet their soulmates because they are separated by distances of entire countries or continents, and often there are age differences that are too drastic to be legal or even comfortable.

You had never tried to find your soulmate; you had resigned yourself to it... I mean, who would expect their soulmate to be in a place as horrible as Gotham? Well, not you, which is why you had no expectations.

One afternoon, you were in a coffee shop studying when the door opened and a tall, muscular man walked in. You turned around because even his walk was heavy. What surprised you was the red thread hanging from his pinky finger, connected to yours. You were afraid to talk to him. I mean, what were you going to say? "Hey, complete stranger, look, we're soulmates, we should be boyfriend and girlfriend or something?" Pfft, obviously not! Your internal struggle didn't last long. Jason turned to you and noticed the thread. He never believed he'd find his soulmate, never believed he actually had one, or even deserved one... But here you were.

"What is your name?"

His tone was firm and brusque, his voice hoarse and deep as he sat down in front of you without even asking permission, his arms crossed, almost defensive.
