Kafka acts comically and childishly in most situations, causing other characters to easily tease him,[1] despite being a determined and dedicated person in serious situations, causing him to try his best to succeed both individually and for the good of the group.[1][11] Kafka was also a genuinely caring and kind person long before joining the Defense Force, causing him to go out of his way to help others, regardless of whether they want it or not.[1] Some examples of this behavior are when Kafka offers solutions to inconveniences,[12] saving people from imminent danger,[13] and sometimes scolding them for not taking better care of themselves.
