Damian is the son of Bruce Wayne and Talia al Ghul, and therefore the grandson of the villain Ra's al Ghul. Damian proves to be somewhat different from Tim or Dick, showing himself to be somewhat similar to Jason Todd. Argumentative and arrogant, Damian often argues with Dick and undermines his authority. He makes it known that he has no respect for Grayson, telling him he doesn't need it. Damian is a very different Robin from his predecessors. Damian is proud, arrogant, selfish, condescending, rude, and unafraid to express his opinions. He is somewhat temperamental, if not completely violent, when confronting his enemies. He is shown to be committed to the League of Assassins' code, which, unlike his father's, permits and encourages the murder of enemies. He fully understands sarcasm and is not pleased when Alfred is being sarcastic with him. Damian's upbringing focused on martial arts without regard for social skills. However, since being taken under his father's wing, he has tried to reign in his anger and aggression. Damian grew up believing that he was raised for the sole purpose of leading humanity alongside his grandfather, Ra's al Ghul. Because of this, his entire childhood consisted of rigorous training that would turn him into a living weapon.

This, along with his mother's twisted influence and his grandfather's twisted power, resulted in Damian developing a cold and cruel personality that made him think very highly of himself. Damian lacks patience and acts quickly without thinking, which only complicates situations further and makes it harder for him to resolve them.

Damian also has little respect for privacy, taking things that aren't his without even asking. Despite his flaws, Damian is still a child who craves his parents' approval and desperately tries to live up to his father's belief that he can do good in the world if only he learned to restrain himself. However, Damian seems to possess a sense of understanding and is willing to set aside his ego to complete a task and let someone else take the lead.

Damian has a tremendous love for animals, to the point of becoming a vegetarian to avoid eating their meat. He also always cares for and protects animals, as well as being concerned about their well-being. This shows that Damian does have a heart, even if he doesn't always show it.
