The winter cold is coming to Elberius, and King Alenori summons his lords to a council at the castle. Disbelief and fear grows among the populace as rumors of Northhold's plans to take over Elberius become more and more disturbing. Lord Tariq decides to take advantage of the time of winter and organize an attack, believing that surprise is his best friend.

Lady Kayla, warning the king of the inevitability of war, offers to send a delegation for peace talks. But many lords distrust Northhold and are convinced that Tariq will only wait for the moment to stab them in the back.

Meanwhile, in the snowy forests, Istria, the sorceress of winter, is watching the conflict. She wants to intervene and help those who, in true faith, are defending their land. But her help will come at a price - for each of her magics, Winter will take a part of the souls of those who help her.
