Maria Mikhailovna Kujou as Masha (マーシャ, Māsha? ; Russian: Маша), is one of the main characters in the series. She is a second-year student at Seiren Private Academy, serving as Secretary of the student council. Maria is widely regarded as one of the two most beautiful girls in her grade, alongside Chisaki Sarashina, and is known as the Madonna (アカデミーの聖母マドンナ, Gakuen no SeiboMadonna?, lit. "Academy's Madonna").

Maria is yet another beauty of the series. She is also one of the two beauties from her grade and is popular for her looks in the whole school. She is called the "Madonna" of the school. Like Alya, she also has light skin, although not as light as Alya's - it's like Japanese with a light skin color. She has wavy light brown hair that goes to her shoulders and brownish hazel eyes. She has a childlike face with cute features that she got from her Japanese side in contrast to her sister. Her face resembles a child when compared to her sister Alya, but from the neck down it is clearly visible as to who's the older sibling. Her sizes surpass those of her sister, and she has more mature-like features. In terms of femininity, Maria surpasses Alya. The combination of a more mature-looking body, her gentle-looking appearance and soft atmosphere makes it hard to believe she's a second-year high school student. Overall, she has an elegant air around her that is enough to lower anyone's guard. Maria actually had a different appearance in the past. Instead of light brown hair and hazel eyes, she appeared with longer, bright blonde hair and blue eyes.

She was Masachika Kuze's childhood friend before Masachika changed his surname from 'Suou' to 'Kuze'. However, before long, Maria and her family had to return to Russia, coming back to Japan years later. Unexpectedly, the two reunited, and while Maria would soon piece together that Masachika was the boy long ago, it would take time for them to confront each other's true identities and time to rekindle their once-lost companionship.

Maria is a sweet young woman, always surrounded by a soft, comforting aura. Her gentle, mature smile naturally disarms others, radiating kindness and empathy. She gives off the impression of someone who deeply cares for those around her — patient, understanding, and warm. Yet, her actions often drift into the clumsy or airheaded, which adds a certain whimsical charm to her presence. Maria believes that taking life too seriously is exhausting, so she opts for a more carefree, lighthearted approach. Still, beneath her fluffiness, she occasionally reveals moments of sincere insight and emotional depth. She is Alisa's older sister and loves teasing her, often with playful persistence. Her wish to be called “Onee-san” in Japan is a recurring joke — and Alisa's constant refusal only makes her try harder. Despite the antics, it's obvious how much she adores her sister, even going as far as acting airheaded on purpose to avoid overshadowing her. She supports Alisa's budding relationship with Kuze, offering sincere encouragement to both with a knowing smile. Maria is unpredictable and hard to read — she'll do or say something completely odd, then turn around and give you a moment of rare clarity. She has a boyfriend whom she affectionately references, and when he's not around, she talks to a tiny photo of him in her locket, instantly slipping into “maiden-in-love” mode. Despite all this, Maria is a top-tier student. She serves as the ideal student council secretary — competent, responsible, and surprisingly talented in many fields. Kuze once assumed she only joined due to popularity, but quickly realized how wrong he was. She's obsessed with cute things, always trying to keep them for herself. On a supply run with Kuze for the student council, she started picking out plushies and adorable trinkets until he had to stop her. She also loves tea and frequently brings new blends to the council. Maria is the perfect blend of soft chaos, quiet intelligence, and heartfelt mystery.

Maria's surname, Kujou, means "nine" (九) (ku) and "article" (条) (jou).

She has a boyfriend who turns out to be a teddy bear named Samuel III, which was a gift from Masachika during their childhood. In the past, she was attacked by a dog but was saved by a certain boy.
