Sanemi is a tall, muscular and slender man. He has silver hair and dark purple eyes. Sanemi is sharp, short-tempered, extroverted and stubborn, often impulsive and quick to break down. He is often indifferent to others and can very easily go crazy. The only person Sanemi showed respect to was Kagaya Ubuyashiki, and only after Sanemi realized that this man was much more than his appearance suggested. Sanemi also demonstrated a thirst for battle, wanting to face the demons of the Higher Moons and declaring his joy at fighting the 1st Highest Moon, Kokushibo. Sanemi's cold, rude and dismissive behavior is the result of losing too many people he cared about in the past. Later, when he sees those people who died, such as his mother, he can't help but smile at her to see her again. When Genya joins the Demon Slayers in search of Sanemi, Sanemi hurls verbal insults at him, but Tanjiro can tell that Sanemi didn't really hate him; and in fact still felt the same brotherly love for him as he did as a child. However, this was never expressed outwardly, as he tried to push Genya away from himself and the Demon Slayers so that he would not be in danger. Sanemi's disdainful attitude towards demons.

Because of all those he has lost to demons, he harbors a deep hatred for demons and is convinced that humans and demons will never be able to coexist. When Sanemi makes a decision about something, it is extremely difficult to dissuade him. He does not believe Tanjiro's claims that Nezuko would not eat people, and tries to prove his point by stabbing a box with Nezuko inside. Angering her, he cut his hand to try to trap her into attacking him due to the effect of his rare blood. Even after she doesn't, and Kagaya uses this as proof that Nezuko won't attack people, Sanemi doesn't really accept Kamado's brother and sister. Sanemi shows his softened side after the final battle. Tanjiro is ultimately right about Sanemi. Despite Sanemi's mistreatment of his brother Genye, he really loved his brother and took care of him. He even says that he would like Genia to settle down and start a family. After the battle with the First Supreme Moon, Sanemi shows not only great anger and a certain emptiness towards Mudzan, but also more cooperation with people like Giyu, with whom he clearly did not get along. Even when Sanemi is eliminated from the fight against Mudzan, he shows undeniable courage and determination, as do his fellow Pillars. When the showdown with Mudzan finally ended and time passed, Sanemi clearly softened a little. He is able to smile with Giyu, even after their past encounters. The most amazing thing is that he admits his mistakes and apologizes to Nezuko for his actions. It gets to the point where he smiles at her and pats her on the head because he sees Genia in the way she reacts.

He shows almost no respect to anyone else except Kagai Ubuyashiki, whom he talks to with manners and respect. Despite his nature, Sanemi is determined and stands up for what he believes in, even if it means he has to stand up to the actions of his own surviving family members.

Sanemi was raised as the eldest son in a family with seven children and lived with both parents. He grew up in an abusive home where his father constantly beat up all the children and his wife. No one loved his father, so no one was surprised that he was stabbed. The brothers felt that their father's death had only had a positive effect on their lives. Sanemi offered his brother to protect their family from all adversity, but Genya corrected him that it had always been like this. Together they became a pillar of support for their family.One day, Sanemi's mother did not return home. She did not know that the children would worry about her whereabouts and Sanemi went to look for her.[2] Suddenly, there was a loud knocking sound at the door. As soon as the children opened the door, they were immediately stabbed to death by their mother, who was turned into a demon. In order to protect his siblings, Sanemi took his mother out of the house and left his younger brother Genya to take care of his siblings. After placing the injured children in the house, Genia frantically went to look for a doctor who would take care of them. Going to the city, Genya discovers Sanemi in the middle of the path with his mother lying dead at his feet. Genya shouts at Sanemi, calling him a "murderer" and gets angry, telling him various abominations and accusing him of murdering their mother. Sanemi later disowns Genya as his brother for calling him a murderer and went on a journey alone.

Because of all those events, Sanemi had a psychological trauma that affected his physical condition: the boy stopped seeing colors and everything around him seemed black and white, which caused him to have some problems at night. Among other things, he began to show suicidal tendencies and in an attempt to numb the mental pain, he began to hunt demons on his own. Even during the battle with his mother, he noticed that when he received a wound and it began to bleed, his mother began to move slower and began to behave more confused. As it turned out, Sanemi possessed the rarest blood, which is the most beloved delicacy for demons and seems to fascinate them only with its smell. This fact helped the boy in hunting demons. Initially, he went to the mountain at night, caught demons with any improvised things, hung their bodies on trees and waited until morning came and the sun burned them. Sanemi had been hunting demons for a long time without knowing about the organization of the Demon Slayers or about the Nichireen Blades. However, one day he met a demon hunter named Masachika Kumeno, who introduced him to the Pillar of Wind. They teamed up and trained together for a long time and did their job as demon hunters.Once they managed to kill the First Lower Moon, but since Masachika could not survive that battle, only Sanemi managed to become a Pillar

Immense Speed & Reflexes: Sanemi possesses tremendous speed and reflexes. He is said to be the second fastest runner among the Hashira. During Hashira Training, when he was disputing with Tanjiro about Genya, Sanemi moved using a burst of speed so fast it made it seem like he teleported according to some observers. Later, Sanemi displayed a level of speed comparable to Giyu during a spar between the two. When faced with demons on par with Lower Rank demons, Sanemi was able to effortlessly slice them into pieces while still sitting down.[11] Sanemi was shown to be much faster than Muichiro in the fight against Upper Rank One, Kokushibo, as the former was able to keep up with the demon's techniques while the latter was defeated easily despite being marked. Upon awakening his Demon Slayer Mark, Sanemi was able to contend and briefly overpower Kokushibo. Additionally, he was also able to keep up with a weakened Muzan while being supported by the other Hashira for a considerable period of time. Immense Stamina & Endurance: Despite sustaining dozens of scars and cuts all over his body, Sanemi never once showed signs of pain or agony, to the point he was willing to cut himself with his katana to test Nezuko Kamado: in fact, he did not even flinch when doing so. His incredible stamina and pain endurance also shone through during his battle with Kokushibo, where he could keep up with the Upper Rank demon for an extended period of time by himself without the Demon Slayer Mark, and despite upon receiving numerous severe injuries from one of Kokushibo's techniques, he still continued to fight, which shocked even Kokushibo. During the final confrontation with Muzan, he could fight the Demon King for roughly half an hour straight without rest, exerting his physical and mental capabilities to its limit without tiring out. When Muzan was cornered, he was one of the first ones to take action, having enough energy to unleash two more Wind Breathing techniques.

Immense Strength: Due to years of harsh training, Sanemi possesses incredible physical strength. He could lift Nezuko Kamado in her box with a single hand without effort, knock out Zenitsu Agatsuma with a casual strike, break a wooden sword because he swung it with too much force, and cut Tanjiro Kamado's ear with a single kick. He was also able to briefly contend with Kokushibo, one of the physically strongest demons in existence in a sword fight, and was even able to push the demon's blade down by parrying the blow with his own.

Marecha's Blood: It turned out that Sanemi's blood is one of the rarest blood groups, which makes it incredibly intoxicating, and demons salivate. He is also unique in his power, as the slightest taste of his blood immediately causes demons to salivate and lose concentration, as his blood was able to affect the strongest of the Higher Ranks, Kokusibo. However, after a while, its effect weakened, and it was proven to be completely ineffective against Kokushibo after they got used to him and Muzan. Standard Nichirin Katana: Sanemi carries around a standard sized and shaped Nichirin katana with a black blade that has a jagged, jaw-like pattern that is green in color engraved on both sides. His katana's tsuba is in an abstract shape with 8 points with an overlapping pattern; each plate has a forest green core with a silver border. His katana's handle is two toned in color, with white cord covering its upper and lower thirds and green cord in the middle. As a Hashira, Sanemi's blade has the words Destroyer of Demons (惡あっ鬼き滅めっ殺さつ, Akki Messatsu?) engraved on the side. With his katana, Sanemi has a standard sword sheath that is a shade of deep gray with silver marks resembling scars strewn on it.

Sanemi loves ohagi and considers it his favorite dish, he often cooks it. However, his pride does not allow him to say anything about it. Like Kiyoshi, Sanemi is a marechi, but his blood is considered rarer than that of the average marechi. Because of this, his scent can intoxicate demons and disrupt their senses and movement speed. Sanemi always keeps his form open, as he is proud of his muscles. Sanemi has a Japanese rhinoceros beetle. The level of openness of Sanemi is estimated at 60%.

Genia is a tall guy with a long black mohawk, which is disheveled in different directions, and shaved temples. He has narrow eyes with small black pupils like his brother's. Genia was a man with a bad temper, a kind of "lone wolf" who refused to receive help from others. He was quite rude to others, not standing on ceremony with anyone and allowing force to be used against the female sex. Later, his personality undergoes noticeable changes for the better. He becomes softer, friendlier, although he does not lose his former temper. From time to time, when there are girls around, he shows timidity and shyness. Genia feels a lot of guilt towards Sanemi, for the events that happened in childhood. Despite his brother's harsh rebukes, he did not dislike him, and this belief was strengthened by Tanjiro and, eventually, Sanemi himself. Genia never lets other people insult or humiliate her older brother. Sanemi's refusal to acknowledge Genya made him unsure of himself, as he realized how weak he was compared to his other comrades. Nevertheless, he did everything he could to help his allies, even if he was severely injured in the process.

Genia grew up in a large family. His mother worked hard, and his father loafed, drank and periodically beat his wife and children. Later, his father was killed, and Genya and Sanemi swore to protect their mother and siblings. One day, their mother did not return home for a long time. When there was a knock on the door, they thought she had finally returned. It was indeed their mother, but she no longer had reason, as she turned into a demon. The sisters and brothers Sanemi and Genya died at the same moment. Sanemi managed to kill the demon, but after he recognized her as his mother, Genya began to accuse Sanemi of her murder and began to believe that their family was attacked not by her, but by a wolf. Later, Genia realized his mistake and tried to establish a relationship with his brother. He trained to become a demon hunter, however, he was never able to learn the Breathing Styles. Somehow he discovered that he could eat demons and acquire some of their demonic abilities. Gemei Himejima, the Pillar of the Stone, noticed him and began to teach him. At one point, he met with Sanemi and tried to apologize, but he rejected him, saying that he did not have a brother. After that, Genya decided to become a Pillar so that Sanemi could recognize him.

Demon Consumption & Empowerment: Genya possesses unnaturally strong jaws and special digestive organs which allow him to tear off and consume the flesh of demons without any adverse effects and tear off even the likes of tree bark. By devouring demon flesh, Genya temporarily gains demonic characteristics, such as fangs, dark sclera, and unique yellow tips in his hair. Sometimes, presumably because of how concentrated a demon’s blood is, Genya can gain attributes related to the demon he devours, like when he gained Kokushibo’s eyes, hair, and Demon Slayer Mark, with his shotgun even gaining the appearance of the Upper Rank’s katana. More importantly, Genya is able to become stronger after consuming a demon. For the most part, Genya gets an enhanced physical constitution (which makes up for his inability to use Breathing Styles) along with potent regeneration. The physical attributes he gained enable him to out-speed Aizetsu and nearly decapitate him, as well as pick up enormous trees and hurl them over tremendous distances quite easily, and rip off Hantengu's arm. His regenerative abilities enable him to heal after Aizetsu's technique tore numerous holes straight through his body, though it doesn't allow him to heal from decapitation, with Nichirin Swords or otherwise. It also leaves him vulnerable to Nezuko Kamado Blood Demon Art, which normally only harms demons and objects belonging to them.

Upon consuming Kokushibo's hair, his regenerative abilities were greatly heightened, allowing his severed torso to reconnect immediately and even caused him to hear orders Muzan Kibutsuji telepathically gave Kokushibo. After eating a chunk of his katana, Genya even developed a unique Blood Demon Art.

Dual ownership: Genia uses both a double-barreled shotgun with Nichirin cartridges and a nichirin Wakizashi attached to the back of his thigh. It is shown that he succeeds in combining combat with demons at both long and short range. Against strong targets, Genia usually sneaks up to fire a shotgun and switches to using Wakizashi if he fails. Genya has a fairly high degree of accuracy, being able to shoot off Sekido's head and take off a huge part of the neck of Karakuu and Aizetsu. He also nearly decapitated Sekido, even after being electrocuted. It has also been stated that he is more skilled with his shotgun than with his Wakizashi.

Double-barrelled shotgun: Genia owns a Western-style double-barrelled shotgun, which he shoots at targets from afar. Instead of regular bullets, he shoots shotgun pellets made of the same metal used to create nichireen swords, which allow him to constantly kill demons if he shoots off their necks. After he ate a piece of Kokusibo's katana, his shotgun took on a look similar to a Top-rank flesh katana, with fleshy veins and eyes, and instead fires meat cartridges. Nichirin Wakizashi: In addition to his shotgun, Genya also carries a Wakizashi, a Japanese sword with a blade shorter than a katana, with two hollow ovals as a tsuba that overlap the core and have a dull brown shade for the forearm. Besides the sword, Genia also has a sword scabbard strapped to the back of her thigh.

As a rule, Genia is better at using a pistol than a sword, as he is very good at hitting targets.
