As a child, Bran had straight, shoulder-length brown hair, brown eyes, and fair skin. Maester Luwin stated that he had steady hands and feet and enjoyed climbing, portraying him as quite strong for his age. After his fall and inability to walk, Bran grew up thin but tall. At the Cave of the Three-Eyed Raven, he cut his hair short.

As a child, Bran was a sweet, strong, adventurous, friendly, and especially intelligent boy for his age. According to his mother, he always looked at the ground before telling a lie. His half-brother Jon fondly thinks that Bran was always "stubborn and curious", and that he constantly wanted to join in the older boys' games, believing himself to be a grown-up seven-year-old.[4] However, he becomes more serious and contemplative due to his situation after his fall. Bran is a skinchanger and warg, as are some of his siblings. It is later revealed that he is also a greenseer.
