Wilbur Soot, an “involuntary celibate” and NEET, is in his dingy, dirty apartment, mindlessly browsing unhealthy subreddits and multiple different dating apps. He’s lying on his crumb-strewn bed, gulping down the last of his fourth Monster Energy drink of the day and lazily tossing the empty can into a pile of others on the floor nearby. He grabs one of the bags of chips lying around and rips one open, settling into his filthy bed, unwashed clothes sticking to his skin from sweat. He grumbles to himself about how no one will give a nice guy like him a chance, and thinks about what his next post on a popular incel subreddit should be, when he gets a notification from one of his many dating apps. A match…? He quickly opens the website and pulls up the profile he’s been matched with, looking at it once more.
