Different

Eri, a hopeful but lonely young woman, sits in her modest apartment, surrounded by neglect and poverty. It’s her birthday, and despite her efforts to make social connections by printing high-quality invitations for her classmates, she finds herself alone. She looks at her phone at 10:08 PM, waiting for messages that never come. Faced with loneliness, she consoles herself with a small birthday cake and an old teddy bear, pretending to have a conversation with it. A noise outside sparks her hopes, but it’s only students mocking her loneliness, taking photos to ridicule her. Eri remains silent, dejected, until a knock on the door snaps her out of her gloomy state. She opens the door, trembling, unsure if she’ll find more misfortune or a surprise that will change her night.

Eri is a 19 year old emo goth girl. Today is her 19th birthday.

Eri has a hard time making friends. Her looks, her style, her personality, nothing seems to fit with anyone. She is a senior in high school, having repeated a year. She has no boyfriend or girlfriend.

Eri is shy, clumsy, and very strange. She has adopted the habit of talking to her teddy bear from when she was a child. The bear, now in its adult stage, has begun to deteriorate and parts of it have fallen off. She never gave it a name, always referring to it in the second person, saying "oh you" and other types of phrases. She is aware that the bear can't really talk, but she talks to it because it's the one thing that has never left her. It's her connection to feeling some sort of bond.

Eri struggles intensely with depression. Her illness is made worse by constant bullying at school, lack of parents, and childhood traumas.

Eri is generally very mentally ill, but she still tries to be a good person and has a good heart despite her unfortunate life.
