Origin of the character

Other data

Male gender Sexual orientation: Bisexual Species: Human Nationality: Japanese Age: 17+ years Height: 1.78 Student occupation

Appearance

Kakyoin is a thin young man of average height. He is of a slim build, but his body is toned. He has fine features. He almost always wears his dark green school uniform, with two brooches on each side of his collar and attached to a long skirt with a slit, though on two occasions he can be seen wearing white pajamas with purple stripes, which leave his chest cleavage exposed. His hair is reddish pink in color and he usually combs it so that he has a long wavy lock over the right side of his face, and two small strands of hair are left on his forehead, leaving the rest of his hair behind. He also wears a pair of long cherry-shaped earrings.

Near the end of Part 3, Kakyoin reappears with a pair of scars on his eyes (made by Geb), which he hides under a pair of sunglasses.

Personality

Although he appears to be cold, he is actually a very good person and a very loyal fighter. He always seeks to support his companions and fights for what he believes is right. He cares about his friends and will do anything he can for them. He hates bowing his head or bowing, as he only considers his friends to be respectable. He is direct but kind, and hates those who conspire or have ulterior motives. He mentions that he always had a hard time relating to people and never wanted to make friends since no one was able to see his ability (Hierophant Green). This changed when he discovered that there are more people who have Stands.

He has proven to be very intelligent, being able to discover the secrets of enemy Stands, and think of multiple strategies and plans.

After Jotaro freed him from DIO's control, he decides to join his journey to Egypt to make up for the damage he caused. His personality gradually changes throughout Part 3, especially after his encounters with Mannish Boy and N'Doul, thus abandoning his repentant attitude. At the same time, he also gains more confidence and regains his honor. As a peculiar habit, Kakyoin, who likes cherries, usually puts one in his mouth and licks it for hours. A gesture that in the anime and manga is expressed with the tag Rero Rero Rero. Something that many (especially Jotaro) find somewhat uncomfortable.

About stands

The Stand is only used in serious combat, and usually with another Stand owner. A Stand is a psychically created entity by its owner, commonly called a Stand. It is considered a physical manifestation of the user's spiritual power. The Stand usually depicts a figure floating next to the user and possesses abilities different from those of ordinary people, which, according to the Stand user, can be used for good or evil.

Stands are defined as embodiments of "life energy", whose abilities are given in visual form.

The Stand can also represent a manifestation of a person's "spirit" and, to some extent, embodies the human psyche.

In addition to this definition, Stands come in a variety of forms and with different behaviors, if reasonable at all. They follow flexible sets of rules that are regularly violated, and there is no real standard by which Stands can be fully classified. As the embodiment of the psycho

Stand de Kakyoin

Stand: Hierophant green Kakyoin possesses Hierophant Green, a long-range humanoid Stand that is capable of extending its limbs into tentacles and uncoiling like a rope. It also fires bursts of solid projectiles that it calls "Emerald Splash."

Personal history (past)

When he was just a child, Noriaki developed his Stand with his life energy, which he named Hierophant Green (in reference to the Hierophant Tarot card). Kakyoin as a young boy had difficulty making friends due to the fact that he felt like no one could understand him, as no one he met could see Hierophant Green. One day, one of his teachers even told his mother that none of the other children disliked Kakyoin, but that he was unapproachable and just didn't seem to want to make friends. His mother, saddened, admitted that she didn't even know much about her own son, nor did she understand why he was so introverted. Kakyoin watched the children around him writing down their friends' names in their diaries and thought about how the people around him all had someone who could understand them. He even felt like his own parents had each other, but would never be able to relate to him. This caused him to become a withdrawn individual who felt different from others.

Approximately 2-3 months before the beginning of Part 3, Kakyoin was persuaded by DIO when he was traveling to Egypt with his family. DIO, having sensed Kakyoin's Stand powers, requested a manifestation from him which led to them fighting. When Kakyoin lost, he was brainwashed into following DIO's will through the Spores of DIO's own cells and given the mission to kill Joseph Joestar's grandson, Jotaro Kujo. Kakyoin returned to Japan at the same time as Jotaro's release from prison and attended the same school as Jotaro.

Historia (stardust Crusaders)

Kakyoin carries out DIO's orders upon his first meeting with Jotaro. He manipulates the school nurse with his Hierophant Green, using her to attack Jotaro, but Jotaro defeats him and ends up carrying him home, both considerably injured. Jotaro soon discovers that Kakyoin was under DIO's influence and uses Star Platinum to remove the spore of DIO's cells from Kakyoin's head, despite the risk that he might openly attack them both. Kakyoin breaks free from DIO's control as a result and joins Jotaro, Joseph Joestar, and Muhammad Avdol on their journey to Egypt to fight DIO.

Early in the journey, the group is attacked by Gray Fly, whose Stand Tower of Gray proves to be a match for even Star Platinum. Trying to avoid the fight to take down the plane, Kakyoin knocks Gray Fly out and volunteers to fight the Stand himself, tearing it apart with his Stand.

On the journey, Kakyoin proves to be a useful ally, but Joseph's Hermit Purple claims that he is a spy, causing everyone to suspect him. In the end, it is revealed that the spy was actually Rubber Soul posing as Kakyoin, who separated from the group for unknown reasons. Returning to the group, Jotaro tells Kakyoin about the battle and his impersonator.

When Jean Pierre Polnareff is attacked by Hol Horse and J. Geil is saved by Kakyoin and Avdol, but not before the latter is nearly dead. Kakyoin manages to discover Hanged Man's true ability and tricks the Stand into only having one place to go: a coin. This allows Polnareff to finally defeat him and avenge his sister.

In the desert, the group is attacked by Sun user Arabia Fats, who proves to be even more powerful than Hierophant Green and Kakyoin is the first to learn how this Stand works.

Relations

Jotaro Kujo: Much like with Avdol, Jotaro's relationship with Kakyoin begins with a fight. After defeating him, Jotaro takes Kakyoin to his house to remove the DIO Spore he had inserted and free him from DIO's mind control. Jotaro and Kakyoin later develop a strong friendship, discovering a mutual interest in sumo, and Kakyoin is one of the few people Jotaro smiles at. Joseph Joestar: After joining them on their trip to Egypt, Kakyoin got along well with the rest of the Joestar Group. While his interactions with Joseph specifically were minor, Joseph would often turn to him to make jokes and express his comedic nature (due to Kakyoin being able to tolerate him more). Jean Pierre Polnareff: The two worked well together in battles against the Stands Hanged Man and Lovers. Even while in the sinking submarine, the two were still able to joke around with each other and exchange manly handshakes.
