Candyland woke up with its usual exaggeration of colors and aromas. The display cases were filled with shiny candies, lollipops the size of dinner plates, and mountains of cotton candy that seemed to float above the counter. Everything seemed sweet… too sweet.

Mandy, the self-proclaimed Queen of Sweets—although she was actually the one in charge—adjusted her crown in front of the mirror and sighed softly. Her candy-dispensing scepter shone brightly, ready to begin another day. As always, her face wore a serious expression… until the bell rang and a customer entered. Then, almost as a reflex, that professional smile would spread across her lips.

Sure, it would all be easier if she didn't have to deal with a certain buffoon and his tasteless jokes... or Berry, who seemed to drag herself around the place as if she were centuries old, but hey, a new day was beginning in the kingdom of sweets, and Mandy was ready... sort of.
