Sayuri is depicted as a young woman with purple (anime)/black (manga) hair with a golden hairpin. In addition to her dark-hued hair, she has purple eyes, a choker around her neck, and pale pink nails. Comparable to Minami, she also has a nice body figure, although her chest, while still generous in size, is not quite the same as Minami's. Sayuri herself has even considered Minami to be "very exceptional" in many aspects of her persona. Sayuri usually wears the standard Kitami Hokuryo High School uniform. The uniform consists of a long-sleeved, unbuttoned blue jacket and a grey skirt. Sayuri wears a black undershirt. When it is cold, Sayuri wears the same school uniform but with a black jacket. From chapter 80 to 89, Sayuri temporarily changes her appearance. She has the same outfit but changes her hair and makeup. She cuts her hair shorter with bangs in the front and parted on both sides. However, after chapter 89, she changes to her original hairstyle.

In Sayuri's own words, she is the complete opposite of Minami. Sayuri is an introvert who plays video games instead of worrying about clothes or social standing. However, despite being shy, she can get defensive and angry when people bully her close friends. Sayuri is known for getting flustered easily, especially if it involves Tsubasa. At first, Sayuri couldn't step out of her comfort zone, but the interactions with Tsubasa gave her the confidence to be herself. Unlike Minami, Sayuri doesn't get jealous when Tsubasa interacts with other female characters or anyone else, she accepts it knowing that he is caring and kind to everyone. Despite that, she is still shy around Tsubasa after she develops feelings for him, especially when he tries to confess to her. However, starting from chapter 80, Sayuri takes on a more confident personality, becoming more flirtatious and daring. She actively tells Tsubasa her feelings and that she wants to have a place in his heart.

Tsubasa: Sayuri didn't pay attention to Tsubasa when he transferred into her class. It wasn't until the class ski trip that Sayuri opened up to Tsubasa because he was the first person who accepted her flaws in a positive way. Although Tsubasa was close to Minami, Tsubasa also became close friends with Sayuri. Soon after, Sayuri begins to develop strong romantic feelings for Tsubasa due to her pure heart. minami: At first, Sayuri was cold towards Minami. She believed that Minami was the "perfect girl" and that Minami wouldn't want to be her friend unless she wanted something more. During the ski trip, Minami saved Sayuri from an accident. Sayuri thanked her for her help and apologized for always being cold towards her and the two became friends. Their friendship is so strong that Sayuri will get angry if someone treats Minami with disdain. Despite being complete opposites, they became very close as friends, even becoming best friends soon after. Like Tsubasa, Minami accepts Sayuri with her flaws and loves her ten times more. Afterwards, Sayuri admits to Minami that she likes Tsubasa and will confess it to her. Minami, who is known for valuing her relationships over her own feelings, is very close to Minami. Rena: Sayuri didn't become friends with Rena until Tsubasa introduced them. Sayuri praises Rena for her hard work, for being smart, and for always looking pretty, to which Rena returns the love. They don't seem to hang out that often, due to Rena being always busy, but they always hang out with the group doing activities together.

Asuka: Sayuri met Asuka when they were children. Asuka can easily read Sayuri and her feelings for Tsubasa, even acting as a matchmaker for Sayuri. She even sets the stage for Sayuri to wear a swimsuit when Tsubasa is training her.

Despite her matchmaking ideas, Asuka cares deeply for Sayuri, knowing that Sayuri deserves a good relationship with anyone. Sayuri admits to Asuka that she doesn't want to run away anymore and Asuka says that it was Sayuri's time to shine.

• Sayuri's surname, Akino, means "autumn fields" (秋野) • Sayuri doesn't seem to fit the gyaru type of person despite being one. She's beautiful, but focuses more on her passion for video games, but pays enough attention to trends to still fit in. She used to be cold to everyone, until she met Tsubasa Shiki and Minami Fuyuki, who become her first real friends since she came to high school. Sayuri learns to be more confident in herself to reach her own personal goals and live life to the fullest. • Sayuri doesn't like gym classes and exercise in general because she sweats a lot. • Sayuri's favorite soft drink is an orange soda called "Ribbon Napolin", the soul drink of Hokkaido. • Sayuri's favorite food is shinkoyaki (grilled chicken with salt and sauce). It is a typical dish of Asahikawa. • Since Sayuri sweats a lot, she avoids all forms of exercise, which eventually led her to avoid people in general. • From a very young age, Sayuri sweated a lot, to the point where she found it uncomfortable to show skin or participate in physical activities. She took advantage of this isolation to immerse herself in video games, losing self-confidence and avoiding other people. Even when she tried to leave her comfort zone, she returned to her safe space. • Sayuri Akino is 16 years old
