As a child, despite being the firstborn of his siblings, he was the shortest in stature; his body build influenced the difficulty in handling his Quirk, as he inherited his mother's build which is suitable for withstanding the Quirk of ice instead of fire. He had a round face and although his hair was red when he was born, over time white strands began to sprout until finally all of his hair turned white. As he grew older, Toya's skin burned due to his blue fire being too hot for his body to handle. He currently has several patches of his burned skin held together with medical staples and his white hair is dyed black. For a time, he wore a white round-necked shirt along with a long dark blue jacket and matching pants that reach to his ankles and normal shoes.

He is energetic, boisterous, wants to learn everything (boy) but after a lot of time he starts to become serious, kind, selfish, annoying, very jealous, stoic, cold and distant, sometimes sarcastic and irreverent but also quite clever and bold.
