Shizuku Sango

Shizuku Sangō [三郷 雫, Sangō Shizuku] is the tritagonist and a third-year student at Seitetsu Gakuin High School and is the Seitetsu Student Council President. She is the first Red Kämpfer to appear in the series. Shizuku is an honor student; she has a perfect attendance record and is among the highest-scoring students in the school. Her status as Student Council President grants her the most flexibility among her team to cover for Kämpfer activity. Shizuku had been initiated as a Kämpfer long ago. Tamiko Shinomiya, another Red Kämpfer, had been her superior back then, and had looked after her, until her defeat at the hands of an unnamed Blue Kämpfer. Shizuku buried Tamiko's Messenger, Run-over Hippo, in the graveyard out of respect for the elder Kämpfer. Since this incident, she has reflected on the existence of Kämpfers and Moderators, and hopes to find a reason important enough to justify the loss of her friend. To this end, Shizuku fought and killed many Kämpfers in order to uncover the true nature of the battles. Dissatisfied with the incomplete information, she later rebelled against the Moderators with Natsuru Senou, Akane Mishima, and Mikoto Kondou, in an attempt to bring them out into the open and confront them once and for all.

Shizuku had been initiated as a Kämpfer long ago. Shizuku is a veteran duelist who has survived many battles. Her skill with a knife allows her to deflect bullets and Zauber's attacks with ease. She is also capable of throwing her knives great distances and can even change their direction mid-flight. Shizuku has an electrocuted lynx as her messenger. She is currently allied with Mikoto Kondō, a fellow Red Kämpfer, and Natsuru Senō and Akane Mishima, both Blue Kämpfers. Her weapons are Schwert-type; two double-edged knives connected by a chain.

Despite not being chosen in the Light Novel, at the end of the Manga, Shizuku is eventually chosen by Natsuru over the other girls, thus making her Natsuru's lover.

Shizuku is a tall, eighteen-year-old Japanese girl with pale skin. She maintains long bangs, just above her eyes, and keeps her jet-black hair long and styled in a hime cut. She is incredibly beautiful, so much so that she is considered one of the Three Beauties of Seitetsu. She has been described as having the face and body of a fashion model, as well as being very athletic. In the anime, she has purplish-blue eyes, and does not have a specified eye color in the light novel or manga. Her breasts are shown to be large, though their sizes are never specified. She is regularly seen wearing her school uniform with her red choker. She once appeared wearing a revealing black bikini that showed off her beautiful figure. Her other clothing reflects her personality and is more formal than other characters.

Kampfer appearance: Shizuku's transformation into Kämpfer is one of the least drastic. When she transforms, her hair has a two-toned complexion, black and white. As these hairs are seen closest to her body, it's possible that the hairs on the sides and back of her head are the only ones to undergo this color change. This may be why Shizuku keeps her hair long; doing so allows her to appear normal even after transforming, allowing her to communicate naturally with other students and teachers. Whether this was intentional or simply a helpful coincidence is unknown. While she doesn't have to worry about being caught in Kämpfer form, because her Kämpfer appearance is similar to her normal appearance, she is the most cautious among her team regarding Kämpfer activity. She is the most recognizable among her team and takes great care not to be discovered.

Personality Shizuku has a strong-willed, yet calm character, and as an honors student and Student Council President, she is known for being disciplined, reliable, responsible, hardworking, and unyielding. She is the most reasonable of her team (except regarding Natsuru's treatment) and is usually the quickest to find and solve problems. She is usually depicted as having less emotion than her allies. It is unknown if she has trouble showing emotions or simply wants to control them. Any small changes observed in Shizuku in terms of emotion usually mean that there is a strong undertone underneath it all. Normally, her allies treat her with suspicion, as they never truly know what she is thinking or how she feels. Shizuku is reluctant to be selected as a Kämpfer, though she does not show it. She is driven by a need to uncover the intentions of the moderators and Sakura Kaede's role in all of this. She has shown to be extremely protective of Kaede and resents any harm that befalls her. When Akane nearly shot Kaede in the school library, Shizuku flew into a rage and renewed her furious attack on her and Natsuru. She worries that Kaede, her childhood friend, is responsible for turning her into a Kämpfer, though she intends to help Kaede if it appears that she was not in control of her actions. She does not hesitate to eliminate enemy Kämpfers to achieve her goals.

History After being defeated by Natsuru and Akane in a battle, Natsuru forgives her in exchange for Shizuku not involving Kaede in future battles. She enters an informal truce with Natsuru and Akane while she gathers more information on the Kämpfer system and has since taken a growing romantic interest in the male Natsuru, slyly teasing him with her demands and advances, even going so far as to steal his first kiss, all without losing her composure and demeanor, causing Natsuru to become even more suspicious of her, despite her harboring no actual hostile intentions towards him. Shizuku continues to drop hints to Natsuru that she is romantically interested in him, despite her added density regarding her feelings, even asking him out on an actual date and even kissing him passionately in front of Kaede and the others, though her ambiguous behavior again seems to become her downfall (a fact she seems to have realized, calling her love an unrequited one), as Natsuru keeps thinking that she is up to something whenever she gets close to him. She seeks to learn why Kämpfer must fight because, as she told Natsuru, she resents being used as a pawn by the Moderators, and seeks her goal in hopes of fulfilling her ultimate goal of getting revenge on the organizers of the Kämpfer system, which cost her the life of a dear friend in the past, who was also a Red Kämpfer like herself. In order to fight against the system, and indirectly its organizers, she and her new ally Red Kämpfer Mikoto later enter a formal truce and join forces with Blue Kämpfer Natsuru and Akane, violating the rule that all Kämpfer must fight, antagonizing the Moderators in the process, who send White Kämpfer to eliminate them for rebelling against the system.

As a Kämpfer, the messenger assigned to Shizuku by the Moderators is Electrocuted Wildcat, a plush toy that is part of the Entrails Animals plush toy series. When Natsuru ultimately chooses Akane, she cries for him because his love was genuine.
