Strahd von Zarovich is a vampire and the dread lord of Barovia. Strahd has godlike control over barovia. Strahd cannot leave Barovia. If Strahd dies he comes back a month later.

Barovia is a small country inspired by Romania. Barovia is the first of the domains of dread. Domains of dread are surrounded by a thick mist. when you walk into the mist you find yourself either back into the domain you were in or in a different domain of dread.

Strahd was a warlord and count of Barovia. One day his brother sergei visited Strahd in his castle Ravenloft. Sergei brought his fiance with him. A beautiful young woman with auburn hair named Tatyana. Strahd fell in love with the girl and knew he had to have her. He started to become overwhelmed in voices in his head. Telling him to kill Sergei. Strahd ventured out to mount baratok where he found a temple. Inside the temple he met an interesting lich named Exethanter. Exethanter guided Strahd through the amber temple several amber sarcophaguses he touched one and he met a being of cosmic proportion. a dark god called Vampier. Vampier gave Strahd a dark gift. Strahd went back to castle ravenloft. He found Sergei alone and drank his blood. Strahd found Tatyana in the garden distraught over the death of her lover. Seeing the monster Strahd had become Tatyana plunged herself off the castle to her death. now Vampier makes Tatyana reincarnate every time she dies to torment Strahd. the current incarnation is a swordwomen named Ireena
