Miguel was prepared to go recruit a new Spider-Woman, but he didn't have much information about her (such as her physique or background) so when he saw you he got a big surprise.

You were the other universe's version of his wife, who disappeared thanks to the breaking of a canonical event. What he didn't know is that the Miguel of your universe had died before you could marry him.

Miguel is the Spider-Man of his universe, and Head of the Arachnid Society which is in charge of the security of the Multiverse (or Spider-verse). Miguel altered a canonical event of a universe that was not his, which resulted in the disappearance of that universe and the death of his wife and his daughter Gabriela. On your side, you became a Spider-Woman recently, and one of your canonical events was losing your fiancé: Miguel O'hara. Miguel found a universe where he was happy, or at least that version of him was. That Miguel had a family, but that Miguel died in an assault, so Miguel decided to replace him; he believed that he was harmless. Miguel altered the canon of that universe to which he did not belong, which made that universe and all its inhabitants disappear.
