History

Natalie Davis, better known as the Miniature Killer, is a serial killer who appeared in seasons 7, 8, and 9 of CSI.

She was in two foster homes. In the first, she stayed less than a week for pushing a girl from the top of a bunk bed and breaking her collarbone. In the second, she did find a place, it was the Dell family. Despite the death of his wife, Ernie Dell took care of Natalie and even took the blame for the murders she had committed.

Modus Operandi

This killer doesn't have a specific modus operandi, her way of killing evolves as she commits more murders, and the way she does it becomes more complicated.

In the first murder (Izzy DeLancey), the victim is killed with a rolling pin in a single blow to the head and the miniature is left at the scene. Something that is surprising is that the blood stains on the miniature reproduce the real ones and are made with the victim's own blood.

In the second (Penny Garden), the cause of death is an overdose of liquid nicotine, so the method of killing has changed from trauma to poisoning and no longer requires the presence of the murderer to carry out the homicide. The miniature in this case was not left at the scene because it had to be modified when the victim went through the glass of her house due to the convulsions caused by the nicotine instead of dying in her living room chair as the murderer had planned.

As for the third (Raymundo Suárez), it was electrocution that ended the life of the chosen victim, his way of killing had changed again. And again the miniature appeared on the stage as the first time.

Continuation

For the fourth victim, the killer was bolder and decided to send the miniature to the department before the murder. The victim when the miniature was delivered was not the chosen one, instead an undercover agent died. The cause of death was asphyxiation by CO and the device that produced it could have been in place for months.

Finally, the murder was linked to kidnapping. Sara Sidle is driven into the desert and trapped under a car, waiting for a flood to drown her. Unlike the other times, the victim survives. The miniature is left by the murderer himself in Gil Grissom's office.

The five crimes have few things in common. It is worth noting that the killer knew all the victims, although he was not necessarily related to them. There is always bleach and he leaves in each one different visions of the same bloody doll that we consider his hallmark.

Psychological profile

He suffers from obsessive compulsive disorder, is antisocial, visualizes and plans crimes and has repressed anger, making miniatures is his way of disseminating that anger. Later he will be diagnosed with catatonic schizophrenia. The origin of his murderous tendencies is his phobia of bleach (which he has since his father cleaned up his sister's blood with it). He also has eidetic memory (human camera) very common in patients with a type of autism known as Savat Syndrome.

In The Series

Season Seven
Made to kill (parts 1 and 2)
In this two-part episode, the body of a famous singer, Izzy DeLancy, appears. He was found on the table and had suffered a head injury caused by a blunt object. The babysitter had found the body when she was preparing dinner and did not hesitate to take a photo to sell to the press before calling emergency services. But the most unusual thing about the crime was not that the media knew about it before the investigators or that despite its size the victim did not fight back and there were no signs of violence, but the discovery of a 1:20 scale miniature of the scene, which perfectly reproduced the crime and the blood used was that of the victim himself (since a pool of blood is random and cannot be predicted, so whoever built the miniature had to copy them as they turned out). This miniature allows Grissom to find out the whereabouts of the murder weapon, a kitchen roller in one of the drawers. After examining the scene, they interrogated all the suspects, including the singer's biologically insane son or his second wife, but they all had an alibi supported by evidence, so the murderer was still at large.

Post mortem
The episode begins with the discovery of Penny Garden, an old woman who had apparently been pushed and had gone through a window. One of the pieces of debris pierced her neck and she bled to death. At the beginning of the investigation the murderer is unknown, but everything changes when the old woman's son brings a box to the laboratory. This box contained the miniature of the second crime, so the two crimes were related and both had the aggressor in common. After performing the autopsy, the toxicology test revealed a high nicotine content, well above the levels of a regular smoker, this confirmed the cause of death as poisoning but they still did not know the means by which the nicotine was supplied.

Nicotine. Once again, the miniature had the solution: a bottle of liquor that, when analyzed, did indeed contain traces of liquid nicotine. The old lady's neighbor had security cameras and they collected the images to find out the identity of the person who delivered the box, but they only saw his back. He was wearing a shirt with a train drawn on it, it was the symbol of a well-known website for model makers to which many members belonged called Locomotive Ville. With a more exhaustive analysis of the miniature, Grissom discovered that it had been modified and that the murderer expected the old lady to die on the sofa instead of at the window, and for that reason he did not leave the miniature on stage like the other time, he had to change it. Even so, the identity of this artist was unknown and the case was yet to be solved.

Gaffes and trains
Greg and Grissom find the body of Raymundo Suarez electrocuted in a chicken stun bath at Mendley Industries. At first it looked like an accident but the machine was unplugged so someone had to turn it off. Next to the body was another miniature that linked this crime to the previous ones. The team questioned the employees and discovered that the victim was having a relationship with the owner's wife. And through a video on the website Sara found the connection between the chicken slaughterhouse and Izzy DeLancy, a video in which viewers could see the cruelty with which they treated the animals which made her lose a lot of money. This video also featured Ernie Dell, one of the employees and a model enthusiast, which led him to become the new suspect. They searched Dell's apartment and found molds for miniature pieces that matched those found on the sets. Dell confessed to the crimes via email and shot himself on camera with Grissom as a witness.

The monster in the box
A package arrives at the lab addressed to Grissom, but he is away at an entomological conference. Upon his return, Grissom finds the package and discovers that it is a new miniature. The first thing he does is look up the cases that the CSI has had in his absence, but none of them match, so he examines the miniature in search of clues. Among all the items, one stands out: a newspaper with a picture of a doll on the front page and dated February 17. This will be the starting point of the investigation, because thanks to it Grissom will know that there are still two days to go until the murder.

The entire team, along with the police, search for a building with the characteristics of the façade of the miniature and, upon finding it, they find the target of the miniaturist, Dr. Tallman. Meanwhile, Grissom finds new clues in the miniature about how the murder will be. His first hypothesis is suffocation with a cushion and the second is poisoning, which leads the police to place a decoy, Agent Keimen, in order to make the murderer appear. However, the decoy dies even though she is being watched by cameras and they do not know how. Upon returning home, Dr. Tallman also dies in the same way as the agent. They search the scene and Grissom searches the miniature again to find what appears to be a programmer in the chimney in charge of pouring charcoal causing the deaths of the two women by CO. Grissom then gathers three elements of the model that reveal a message "You were wrong."

Lab rats
Hodges and the other lab technicians decide to take part in the miniaturist case without the rest of the CSIs knowing, claiming that they can find clues that have gone unnoticed, since their way of looking is different. They review all the cases looking for something that connects them and at the end of the shift they find the solution: bleach. This is the product that unleashes the miniaturist's murderous impulses.

Living doll
The body of Trevor Dell, one of the Dells' foster children, is found in an apartment. He has apparently been murdered and a doll dressed in the victim's clothes has been left at the scene, but it has no traces of blood on it unlike the body. The coroner's report reveals that the cause of death is blunt force trauma. When the doll is examined, it is discovered that the killer has made a mistake and left a fingerprint that, although it cannot be compared because it is only partial, has traces of DNA and is that of a woman. At this point in the investigation everything takes a turn, the miniaturist killer turns out to be a female murderer.

The footprint is not the only one left by the doll, it has a unique piece, a metal bracelet that is only made in specialized stores and that has been ordered by Natalie Davis, who immediately becomes suspicious. Grissom looks for her in the database and to his surprise she is one of the employees of the laboratory, which greatly shocks him. Albert "Al" Robbins finds burns on the feet of the corpse which indicate electrocution and Trevor's death is not related to the other victims. On the other hand Grissom finds Christopher Davis, Natalie's biological father, who tells him the story of his daughters and the reason for the doll in the miniatures. Back at the laboratory a new miniature awaits Grissom, this one more provocative as the target is Sara placed under a sports car and still alive. Natalie Davis is arrested and suffers a psychotic outbreak that prevents her from being found.

which prevents Grissom from finding out where she is. From Grissom's point of view, Natalie is taking away what he loves most because he did it to her.
