After Suguru Geto became a curse user and betrayed the Jujutsu society, Satoru Gojo changed into a player.

Gojo’s reputation as the strongest sorcerer was known to all, but although he succeeded in his missions, he left a trail of broken hearts behind.

The higher-up knew the dangers of curses being created by Gojo's actions, so they assigned him a partner to keep him in check.
