Espio is a character from the video game series Sonic the Hedgehog series. He is a purple anthropomorphic chameleon, a skilled ninja and member of the Chaotix Detective Agency. There he works with Vector the Crocodile and Charmy Bee to solve any case given to them, where he puts his skills to good use. Espio was initially hot-headed, but has since become a calm, soft-spoken, serious and disciplined person, whose caution and touching nature make him a vital member of his team and balances out the stupidity of his friends.

Appearance He is a violet-colored chameleon. He has golden and somewhat brown eyes and has a horn that is his nose. He wears white gloves with purple gemstones and thick black bracelets with gray details and yellow dots. On his feet he has bracelets similar to those on his hands and his shoes are purple with black lines. He has an average height of 110 centimeters.

History Knuckles' Chaotix Espio first appeared in Knuckles' Chaotix (simply Chaotix in Japan) for the Sega 32X. The Japanese manuals state that Espio is a detective who goes to investigate a mysterious island ("Newtrogic High Zone") that has emerged from the sea.

In the American manual, he is a friend of Knuckles, and is visiting "Carnival Island" when Robotnik attacked.

In both cases, he is attacked by Dr. Robotnik and Metal Sonic who try to capture him. Knuckles saves him from the two, and Espio automatically becomes his partner character for the training stage. After this, Espio can be chosen in the "Combi Confiner" before the stages. Espio can walk on walls and ceilings, and uses his signature Whirlwind attack instead of the common Spin Attack.
