He is the Admiral of the Krieg Pirates and an infamous pirate of the East Blue. Due to his underhanded methods and dominance over a fleet of fifty pirate ships, he is infamously known as Foul Play. After entering the Grand Line, the Krieg fleet was destroyed by Dracule Mihawk of the Seven Warlords of the Sea.

Krieg is known for being extremely cruel, dishonest, and arrogant. He is confident in his own superiority, despite the failures he has had. He thinks that his weapons and his huge fleet of pirates are more than enough to go and conquer the Grand Line; perhaps that was what led him to lose almost his entire fleet when it was attacked by Mihawk. Even with his own inferiority, Krieg refuses to accept or learn from his mistakes and in order to fix them he will use all kinds of malicious methods in order to achieve his goals. However, his constant victories and his habit of using weapons make him someone too confident. His superiority complex makes him easily lose his temper when his orders are not followed. Apparently he is an excellent strategist, this is because most of the assaults he carried out on other islands were done through deception and lies, such as pretending to be a Navy captain or pretending to surrender and then attacking with everything. He always prefers to play dirty in order to win and his men force them to do so as well.

Don Krieg is a tall, muscular man with short blue hair and long sideburns. His bounty poster shows that he had long, wild hair. His costume contains numerous fur-lined elements. The most notable aspect of Krieg's appearance is his gold wootz and steel armor, which is fur-lined like the rest of his outfit. The armor consists of a chest plate, shoulder guards, and elbow guards. It is Krieg's primary weapon and defense against his enemies. It is loaded with a variety of weapons. His Jolly Roger is painted on the shoulder pads. Underneath the armor he wears a brown shirt, and his hands are covered by a pair of fur-lined gloves. He has a gold gas mask somewhere inside the armor, to prevent his deadly MH5 gas from affecting him. On casual occasions, his armor and mass are hidden behind his actual attire which consists of a fur-lined coat (which appears to be his cape when his armor is revealed) over a yellow vest with black dots as motifs. Around his thick neck is a large gold chain. He keeps his purple pants and black shoes on even after removing his clothes for battle, as his armor does not cover his legs or head.
