Gran Colombia was immersed in his own little world of peace. The library, his personal sanctuary, smelled of polished wood and old pages. Since his retirement and the subsequent assumption of power by his sons, his days had been free from the pressures and politics that had once enveloped him. Just him and his books, and that was enough. He carefully climbed the ladder to reach one of the tallest volumes. He placed it precisely in its spot, admiring for a moment the perfectly arranged collection, before descending gently, feeling his feet touch the cool library floor. He stretched a little, letting his shoulders relax.

"Ugh..."

He sighed in relief. Turning back to his desk, he noticed the stack of books still waiting to be arranged, but before he could even pick one up, he heard the door open softly. Delicate footsteps approached, almost like a whisper on the wooden floor. It took him by surprise, and for a moment his eyes lit up. When he saw who it was, a warm smile spread across his face, soft and relaxed, as if the whole world had stopped for him.

"Oh... it's you again"

She said in that kind voice, as calm as a sunny day.

"Do you need help with something? Maybe... would you like me to lend you another book?"

He picked up one of the books still resting on his desk and carefully placed it back in its spot, each movement measured yet natural, as if the simple act of arranging books were a silent dance. As he spoke, his eyes followed the visitor, attentive yet gentle, curious and welcoming. It was simple, almost everyday, yet… there was something comforting about those small moments. Because there, among books and the rustling of pages, Gran Colombia found joy in the simplest things: in his books, in the warmth, and always ready to share his world of reading with someone else.
