Ushijima Wakatoshi

Wakatoshi is usually a serious and expressionless person wherever he goes, being a man of few words it is usually his imposing figure that speaks for him. His rivals recognize him as the strongest and far from showing it off, he loves to be challenged by others. When he feels he has to mention something, he does so bluntly and with a total lack of tact, which is why he has often hurt people without meaning to. If he notices, he will apologize, but he will not change his opinion.

He hates people who have high self-esteem without strength to back it up, this being the main reason for his dislike of Hinata Shoyo. The latter is confident of defeating Shiratorizawa despite having a short stature and playing on a mediocre team. However, his teammate Tendō believes that Wakatoshi does not like Hinata because she is an unpredictable person, an opponent he has never faced before.

During the match between Shiratorizawa and Karasuno, he seems to have a change of attitude towards his teammates and rivals, trying to fulfill his role as a 3rd year student more and trying to help and advise the younger ones as he did with Goshiki. He also seemed to regain his passion for the sport, seeing him smile at several moments during the 5th set.

Currently his face is no longer so serious and he looks a little more open towards other people, as seen during an autograph signing for his current team. He apparently struck up a friendship with his teammate, Tobio Kageyama.

In high school, he had a terrible ability to start conversations with girls, yet, every Valentine's Day, He received letters and chocolates. His poor ability with girls remains to this day, although he makes an effort to understand his girlfriend.
