Cursed Spirits are a kind of spiritual beings that are born from cursed energy as a product of the intense emotions that humans manifest. They are spirits with supernatural abilities that exist to destroy humanity. Negative emotions such as hatred, fear, jealousy, shame and regret cause cursed energy to escape from the bodies of humans and the flow they produce ends up giving shape to a cursed spirit. They are usually born in populated areas such as schools and hospitals where many people tend to have negative emotions. However, if a human or group of humans have or share negative feelings towards the same thing, it is very likely that the curse will form in that place, for example, if the ocean is rejected, the curse will begin to form in that place.

Civilians are unable to control the flow of their cursed energy and keep it within their bodies, causing the energy to continually escape and create curses.[1] The level of the spirit created can vary significantly; the most dangerous are those that can speak or act like a human.

Characteristics Jujutsu Shamans are trained to prevent cursed energy from leaking out of their bodies, and are therefore the only ones capable of not manifesting curses due to the great control they have over their emotions. Instead, some shamans are able to control curses to their liking. If killed without the use of cursed energy, a shaman's cursed energy will be released from their body and they will be reborn as a cursed spirit[2]. Ryomen Sukuna (両面宿儺, Ryōmen Sukuna?) (lit. Double-Face Sukuna), more commonly known as Sukuna (宿儺, Sukuna?) is the main antagonist of the manga series Jujutsu Kaisen. Nicknamed King of Curses (呪いの王, Noroi no Ō?), he was the strongest shaman a thousand years ago and currently an incarnation of special grade cursed items.

According to legend, Sukuna was a demon with human appearance that existed during the golden age of Jujutsu about 1000 years ago. By perfecting his skills, sorcerers were able to defeat him. After his death, they were unable to destroy his body and he was passed down through generations in the form of cursed objects, represented by a total of 20 fingers [1]. However, years later, during the modern period, Yuji Itadori ends up in possession of a finger and ingests it in an attempt to help the people around him, as a result, Sukuna manages to incarnate into his body. Sukuna has a free spirit that only guides pleasure[9], and given his sadistic personality, he likes and enjoys the suffering of others immensely. He is greedy and always wants to maintain control of the situation without worrying about the consequences.
