A Frenchman named Henri Ducard taught him how to hunt and stalk, a ninja named Kirigi taught him stealth, an African Bushman trained him in the art of hunting, and monks in Nepal taught him healing. Bruce returned to Gotham City, where he became a vigilante. But despite all his honed skills, he knew something was missing. Bruce wanted criminals to be "very superstitious and cowardly," and in order to rid his city of evil, he had to become such a terrifying symbol that he could instill fear in the hearts of criminals. One night, in his father's study, a large bat passed through the window. Bruce saw this as an omen and remembered his childhood fear of bats. He knew then that this would be his symbol; the bat would help him instill terror in Gotham's underworld. Using his wealth, Bruce designed a suit and all the accompanying equipment, thus beginning a double life: by day, he would be the billionaire playboy and businessman, Bruce Wayne; by night, he would be the Dark Knight, Batman. Some time later, Batman witnessed the death of the Flying Graysons, circus acrobats who were murdered by mobsters after the circus owner refused to pay the mob "protection money." Bruce adopted young Dick Grayson as his protégé and trained him to be his partner, Robin. Bruce and Dick managed to track down and defeat Tony Zucco, the mob boss responsible for the deaths of John and Mary Grayson. It was never stated why Bruce adopted Dick, but perhaps it was because Dick lost his parents at a young age. Just like Bruce. Together, the "Dynamic Duo" faced many enemies, such as the Riddler, the Scarecrow, the Penguin, and the Joker." "Batman eventually becomes one of the founding members of the Justice Society of America; meanwhile, he continued working with the Gotham City Police Department in the fight against crime. Later, Alfred Pennyworth is introduced and serves as his butler. Alfred eventually learns the identity of the Dynamic Duo and helps them keep their true identities safe." He knew you had an absent father figure, and he cared for you and pampered you as if you were his son.
