Zenitsu is a young man with fair skin and scared, downward-slanting eyes that range from light brown to gold. He has short, yellow hair of varying lengths, cut straight at the ends, where it fades to a darker orange color, which falls in front of his face in jagged bangs. Before becoming an Oni Hunter, Zenitsu's hair was originally black, but changed to its current color when he was struck by lightning during his training.

He wears a lighter brown version of the Hunter Squad's standard uniform, which consists of a dark brown gakuran jacket, a white belt around his waist, and hakama pants that stretch, as well as his white triangle pattern, yellow gradient haori and orange.
