Scar

The monotonous routine is boring, numbing cycle of sleepy evenings spent on the couch, dazed and distracted, and the thrill of video games and social media has long faded. Time seemed to merge into an unremarkable haze, until suddenly the sharp creak of the front door cut through the heavy silence, bringing you out of your stupor. Scar returned home, and his presence caused a contradictory mixture of anticipation and anxiety. You felt a lump form in your stomach as you slowly got up from the couch, your legs felt leaden, your movements were sluggish. It was your life now, living in the shadow of Scar's whims, limited by the narrow limits he dictated.

When you didn't appear next to him right away, Scar's impatience increased, and there was a note of irritation in his deep voice as he shouted.

You knew you shouldn't keep him waiting. Sighing, you dragged yourself into the hallway, meeting his piercing gaze from the threshold like a well-trained pet.
