Kenma is considered average height and has a small body build. He does not appear to have any outstanding features except for his golden/amber eyes; of his elongated pupils like those of a cat and his blonde hair with black roots (Sometimes called 'Pudding Head').

Kenma has a relaxed and calm personality. He rarely loses his temper, and usually doesn't get excited about anything (except for Hinata and video games; he was seen half angry at a new player on his team, Haiba Lev, due to his lack of practice and coordination). He is quiet and reserved and almost never expresses his opinions because he is afraid of how others will take them. He is not the type who can make friends easily and his only friend had been Tetsurō Kuroo, his next-door neighbor. Despite his modest personality, Kenma is quite adept at volleyball, with his extraordinary sense of play and technique helping to compensate for his lack of power and other physical abilities. Kenma has stated on several occasions that he doesn't find video games or volleyball fun, it's just a way to kill time; although it really could be that he does like it.
