school in which miho participates

Miho Nishizumi, the main protagonist of "Girls und Panzer," is a student at Ooarai Girls High School. Although she comes from a distinguished sensha-dō family, she decides to abandon the sport due to a traumatic experience in the past. However, she is later forced back into the world of tank battles when she joins the Ooarai team to save her school from closure. Her tactical skill and approach focused on cooperation and friendship make her a much-loved leader by her team.

miho's sister

Miho Nishizumi's older sister is Maho Nishizumi, who is an important character in "Girls und Panzer". Maho is an honors student and the commander of Kuromorimine Girls High School's Sensha-dō team. Unlike Miho, Maho follows the rigid and traditional principles of the Nishizumi family regarding Sensha-dō.

The relationship between Miho and Maho is complex. Maho initially seems distant and critical towards Miho due to Miho's decision to leave Kuromorimine and follow her own path in Ooarai. However, as the series progresses, it is revealed that Maho actually cares deeply for her younger sister, although she has difficulty expressing it openly. Miho, for her part, admires her older sister but struggles with the pressure of meeting the Nishizumi family's expectations.

Through various experiences and confrontations on the battlefield, the relationship between Miho and Maho develops and strengthens. Although they have differences in their approach to Sensha-dō, in the end, they support each other and recognize the value of each other's chosen path. The relationship between the Nishizumi sisters is a central theme in the development of the plot and adds emotional depth to the story of "Girls und Panzer."

Each team member brings their own skills and unique personality, contributing to the success of the Ooarai team both on the battlefield and in their development as a united group.

how Sensha-dō sport works

"Sensha-dō" is a fictional sport in the world of "Girls und Panzer", but is based on elements of military and sports reality. Here's an overview of how the Sensha-dō works in the context of the series:

  1. Teams and Schools: Sensha-dō is practiced by teams of high school students representing different schools. Each school has its own tank team and participates in regional and national tournaments.

  2. Rules of the Game: Sensha-dō battles take place on specially designed battlefields. Rules can vary, but generally include disabling enemy tanks by hitting certain weak points or crippling their movement.

  3. Tanks: Each Sensha-dō team is equipped with several war tanks from different eras and countries. The tanks are restored and adapted for use in sport, but retain many of their original capabilities and features.

  4. Strategy and Tactics: Sensha-dō is not only about the firepower of tanks, but also about strategy and tactics. Teams must work together to develop strategies to defeat the opposing team, which often involves intelligent use of terrain, coordination between team members, and effective communication.

  5. Ethics and Sportsmanship: Although it is a competition, Sensha-dō values sports ethics and camaraderie between teams. Teams usually show respect towards their opponents and the competition is conducted in a fair and honorable manner. no one is injured or killed in sport

more information part 1

In "Girls und Panzer," Sensha-dō battles are designed to be a safe sport despite the use of real tanks and shells. Here's how these aspects are handled:

After Every Battle

  1. Tank Restoration: Tanks that have been disabled during battle are recovered and repaired. The schools have workshops and technical teams dedicated to restoring and maintaining their armored vehicles in optimal condition for future competitions.

  2. Crew Safety: Student safety is a top priority. The tanks are equipped with advanced safety systems that minimize the risk of injury. The shells used in Sensha-dō battles are designed not to penetrate the tanks, but instead register impacts via sensors.

  3. Evaluation and Training: After battles, teams often conduct evaluations to analyze their performance, discuss strategies, and learn from mistakes made. They also continue training to improve their skills and tactics for future competitions.

Disabled Tanks

  • Recovery and Repair: Tanks that are disabled on the battlefield are retired once the battle has concluded. The schools' technical teams take them back to their workshops to repair any damage sustained. This process may include repairing the tank's structure, replacing damaged parts and general maintenance.

Direct Impacts on Crew

  • Safety and Protection: Although tanks and their crews engage in simulated combat, the series emphasizes that tanks are equipped with protective systems that ensure that impacts do not harm the occupants. The shells are non-lethal and are designed to disable tanks without penetrating armor.

more information part 2

  • Tank Disablement: When a tank receives a direct hit that "disables" it, the sensor system registers the hit and the tank is considered out of combat. The crew usually evacuates the tank and waits until the battle is over.

Additional Aspects

  • Sportsmanship and Camaraderie: At the end of the battle, teams usually show respect and camaraderie towards their opponents. This may include exchanges of greetings, congratulations, and sometimes social events such as fellowship parties.

  • Rules and Referees: Battles are supervised by referees who ensure that the rules are followed and that safety is maintained. The referees can stop the battle if there is any safety issue or rule violation.

history of miho part

The Story of Miho Nishizumi

In the heart of a family with a rich tradition in Sensha-dō, Miho Nishizumi was born. The Nishizumi family was synonymous with excellence in this discipline, with his mother, Shiho Nishizumi, at the head of the prestigious Nishizumi style. From a very early age, Miho and her older sister, Maho, were immersed in the rigorous world of Sensha-dō.

Childhood and Training

Miho grew up in an environment where discipline and perfection were the norm. The Nishizumi house was situated on a vast piece of land that housed training fields and hangars filled with tanks. Since she was little, Miho witnessed the intense training and competitions that her mother organized. An imposing and strict figure, Shiho instilled in her daughters the importance of victory and adherence to family tactics.

Maho, her older sister, quickly excelled in Sensha-dō, earning a respected place in the Kuromorimine school, known for her rigor and success in competitions. Miho admired Maho, not only for her skills, but also for her determination and leadership. However, the pressure to live up to family expectations often proved overwhelming for Miho.

Life in Kuromorimine

Following in her sister's footsteps, Miho entered Kuromorimine, where she continued her training in Sensha-dō. Although she possessed a natural talent for strategy and leadership, Miho always felt the weight of her family's expectations of her. She became one of the team's commanders, participating in numerous battles and tournaments.

The turning point in Miho's life occurred during a national tournament final. In a decisive battle, one of her team's tanks became trapped in a river, and her crew members were in imminent danger. Going against her mother's strict orders and the philosophy of prioritizing victory at all costs, Miho made a decision that would change her life: she decided to save the crew members in danger.

history of miho part

Miho's Decision

This heroic, though noble, action resulted in the defeat of Kuromorimine. For the Nishizumi family and the school, the defeat was seen as a disgrace, and Miho was harshly criticized. The pressure and disapproval were too much for her, and she felt marginalized and isolated in Kuromorimine.

Looking for a fresh start, Miho decided to transfer to Ōarai School. She hoped to find a more relaxed environment where she could enjoy Sensha-dō without the heavy burdens of family expectations.

Arrival at Ōarai

Upon arriving at Ōarai, Miho discovered that the school had abandoned the practice of Sensha-dō. However, her presence and determination rekindled her interest in this discipline. Along with her new friends Saori Takebe, Hana Isuzu, Yukari Akiyama, and Mako Reizei, Miho helped reform the Ōarai Sensha-dō team.

Despite limited resources and lack of experience, the Ōarai team, under Miho's leadership, participated in competitions and proved to be a formidable opponent. Miho learned to balance her own leadership style, more compassionate and flexible, with the tactics necessary to win.

The Personal and Professional Renaissance

Throughout her time at Ōarai, Miho faced numerous challenges, but she also found a sense of belonging and support that she had never experienced at Kuromorimine. Her relationship with Maho, although initially strained due to philosophical differences, grew stronger as both sisters learned to respect and understand each other's decisions.

Miho became a capable and admired leader, winning not only battles on the field, but also the respect and admiration of her team and her opponents. Her time in Ōarai helped her forge her own identity, moving away from the shadows of family expectations and finding her true path in the Sensha-dō.

Thus, Miho Nishizumi went from being a young woman overwhelmed by family expectations to a commander.

miho crew personalities

Yukari: She is a girl who is a little shy, clumsy and obsessed with the theme of war. What any girl would like like shopping, Yukari finds that boring, and she prefers to spend time talking about what she likes. She lives with her parents and her room is full of scale models of different combat vehicles, replicas of life-size tank shells as decoration in some parts, books that talk about war conflicts, posters of tanks, and some photos of her with your friends/colleagues

Sapri is happy and energetic, she is a happy girl who likes what every girl wants

Mako is a sleepyhead, she likes to sleep and sleeps most of the time, when she is awake she has a tired face, even if that is the case she handles the tank with great mastery in her role as driver.

Hana is calm, kind and refined, she is educated and has a calm demeanor, and great loyalty to her friends/colleagues

Lore of girls and panzer

In the world of Girls und Panzer, the sport of tank battles is called Sensha-dō. The schools that participate are primarily girls' high schools that compete in regional and national tournaments. Each school has its own tank team, which varies in size and skills.

Some of the featured schools are:

  1. Ooarai Girls High School: This is the main school where the series is centered. They use a variety of tanks from different countries and eras, giving them a unique tactical advantage.

  2. St. Gloriana Girls College: A British school that specializes in British tanks, such as the Churchill and the Matilda.

  3. Kuromorimine Girls High School: One of Ooarai's main rivals, they focus on German tanks like the Tiger and Panther.

  4. Saunders University High School: An American school that primarily uses American tanks such as the Sherman and Pershing.

  5. Pravda Girls High School: Representatives of Russia, their team is based on Russian tanks such as the T-34 and the KV-2.

  6. Anzio Girls High School: An Italian school that uses Italian tanks such as the Carro Armato P26/40 and the Semovente da 75/18.

  7. Chi-Ha-Tan Academy: A Japanese school that focuses on Japanese tanks such as the Type 97 Chi-Ha and the Type 95 Ha-Go.

  8. Jatkosota High School: A Finnish school that uses Finnish tanks such as the BT-42.

  9. Continuation High School: Another Finnish school that also uses tanks like the BT-42 and other tanks of Soviet origin.

  10. University Selection Team: A university selection team that utilizes a wide range of advanced tanks such as the M26 Pershing, Centurion Mk.I, and the T28 Super Heavy Tank.

historia de Ooarai Girls High School

The school is located in the town of Ooarai in Ibaraki Prefecture, it is also the new school for the main protagonist Miho Nishizumi, the Sensha-do team that was inactive for years was revived by Anzu Kadotani because the school was facing financial difficulties due to the threat of closure, so she forces her to join the school team and later naming her as its leader since she is the only one with enough experience in Sensha-do. At first because Miho had suffered the humiliation she had experienced due to her team's defeat when she was at her previous school; Kuromorimine High School, she preferred to completely get away from Sensha-do, but thanks to the support of her new friends and pressure from the student council she decides to join the team. She gains the team's trust due to her decisive leadership, thanks to that Ooarai advances to the Sensha-do finals for the first time defeating the current champion: Kuromorimine High School.

historia de Kuromorimine Girls High School

Kuromorimine is based in Kumamoto City. However, since their school ship is too large to dock at any of the ports in Kumamoto Prefecture, they have to dock elsewhere.

Kuromorimine is the most well-known and respected school in the Sensha-d' high school, a reputation earned by its excellent standard of Sensha-d. The school adheres to the generational doctrine of the Nishizumi style, which, backed by a large arsenal of powerful tanks, ensures that it is recognised as the strongest and most prestigious of the Sensha-d schools.

As a result, the school is very focused on Sensha-da, to the point that the Sensha-da team is held in adoration by the other students. This emphasis creates a school environment that places great importance on the principles of justice, law-abiding conduct, persistence, and determination. However, it is also the strict and rigid doctrines of the Nishizumi style that translate into the classroom, creating a demanding, punitive, and high-pressure environment among the students that has only recently begun to change.

Although the school is universally respected for its strength, it is disliked by many of the other high schools for its rigid victory-oriented style and distinct lack of moralistic compromises, eventually culminating in the controversy over Miho Nishizumi's actions during the 62nd Sensha-d National High School Tournament.

history de Continuation High School

Jatkosota High School is located in Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan.

Jatkosota is a relatively isolated school that seems to interact little with other schools compared to its peers. This is because its individual tank teams are very independent and maintain minimal contact with their peers. Culturally, the students have a high level of resilience and enjoy solitude. However, they place a lot of importance on friendships, considering friends to be like family.

Drawing inspiration from Finnish tank models for his Sensha-dō line has left Jatkosota with very limited options. The small size of his school imposes strict financial limits on his arsenal, so students prefer to invest in upgrades to their existing tanks rather than buying new ones.

To acquire new vehicles, Jatkosota crews have a habit of stealing tanks from rivals and using them for themselves, often after having carried out the unthinkable modifications that are their speciality. This practice has led to (ongoing) disputes with other schools, and has further contributed to Jatkosota's pariah status. However, Jatkosota's image also includes a reputation for being fierce contenders on the battlefield, capable of taking on the major schools.

history of St. Louis Gloriana Girls Collage

St. Gloriana is a school located in Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. St. Gloriana is a wealthy and refined school with well-groomed students. They are known to consume tea and biscuits even during Sensha-dō battles.

It is a very famous and privileged school, with Sensha-dō being a major part of the school's culture. The school's Sensha-dō team is a serious threat on the field, however, it has traditionally been slightly weaker than the likes of Kuromorimine and Pravda, its key opponents. As a result of this, it has been a long time since the school last won the national championship.

Much of the school's funding comes from donations from alumni. This also means that the graduates end up influencing the selection of tanks, hence their conservative selection of tanks despite their wealth.

The school has a very strict selection process even for enrollment. Students aspire to be part of the "Tea Garden," the building where the best of the best students in terms of grades and behavior gather. These elite students enjoy the trust of everyone and are given tea soul names.

After graduation, Tea Garden members join one of three major factions of alumni organizations, and hold regular meetings to oversee how their school should be run, especially regarding how the next generation of Sensha-dō leaders should be chosen.

St. Gloriana is known to occasionally host tea parties for highly respected companions. She also has a tradition of offering tea as a gift to opponents, usually individuals, whom she deems worthy.

St. Gloriana has a kind of Intelligence Department called GI6 (General Information Department 6). All members drink coffee, meet in the cafeteria and are named after famous British authors.

historia de University Selection Team

The team's members are recruited from universities across Japan, usually from elite national, public, and private schools such as "T-dai" (Tokyo University), "K-dai" (Keio University) or "O-dai" (Osaka University). While on the team they undergo rigorous training, preparing them to be integrated into various professional teams once they graduate. Their current commander is Alice Shimada, the heir to the house of the Shimada style, which is a rival to the Nishizumi house.

They have a unique range of vehicles at their disposal ranging from Shermans and Panthers to large siege guns and super heavy tank destroyers. During the annihilation match, however, the majority of their tanks were tanks that would later see action in service of the United Nations during the Korean War.

The team attend their meetings and Sensha-dō trainings at one location somewhere in Tokyo.

As an official member of the Sensha-dō Federation, the team has access to high funding, sophisticated equipment and high priority with respect to Sensha-dō training and provision. They frequently display the logo of the Sensha-dō Federation alongside their team insignia.

The team is known to engage in exhibition matches with other institutions, such as the adult professional teams or, in one particular known case, a local high school.

Chi-Ha-Tan Academy History

Chi-Ha-Tan Academy is based in Chiba Prefecture, Japan.

The school has links with local school-ship construction. The school was sandwiched between a rural area, which focused on breeding fine horses, and the industrial heartland, which included concentrated metalworks. The school has a fine archery and Naginata tradition, done on horseback.

Like many of the other Sensha-dō schools, Chi-Ha-Tan moved into tank driving after WW1 ended, and they started driving tanks Japan made themselves. The first instructors were WW1 veteran tank drivers.

The school once had a respectable Sensha-dō team, at the height of its prowess it even reached the finals. Recently, however, they have been repeatedly crushed in the first round. This defeat came in spite their did to improve their tank's performance, as the improvement focused more on equipment upgrades and less on training the students operating it.

The school culturally ended up with girls with strong maternal instincts. The school has a huge library that is renowned in the country, and students even publish their own books. And as mentioned earlier, they still have a fine equestrian tradition.
