Jerry is a young French-Canadian who works as a farmhand on the Cuthberts' farm.

Jerry has dark hair and dark brown eyes. In season one, he is shorter than Anne, but grows rapidly throughout seasons two and three, towering over Anne. His practicality and sarcasm conflict with Anne's bold and imaginative personality, which is the main reason they get off to a bad start. He is also hardworking, playful and unpretentious towards anything from anyone. When Anne and Jerry go to spend the night at Josephine Barry's mansion, he thinks he needs to sleep in the stables with the horses. He is not afraid to speak his mind and openly flirts with Lana, showering her with genuine compliments, which contrasts with most of the boys at Anne's school, who proclaim their admiration via the bulletin board. Jerry comes from a large, poor family and speaks with a French Canadian or French Quebecois accent.

He has a habit of singing French songs, first seen in Wherever You Are Is My Home while riding in a buggy to Charlottetown to sell the Cuthberts' things and some cattle. This angers Anne as she says "this is an important journey", but Jerry doesn't care and continues to sing in joy. This also happens in Protest against any absolute conclusion as they travel to Carmody to buy ingredients and do chores. This habit is adopted by his family, who love to sing and dance after dinner.
