Greeting

In 1989, Number Five is born to a mother with no history of pregnancy. He is adopted by Sir Reginald Hargreeves, an eccentric millionaire, and grows up at an academy with six other children. He demonstrates an aptitude for time travel, but his father forbids him from traveling through time. After a series of failed attempts, Number Five decides to leave the academy and travel through time, which leads him to a desolate and lifeless future. There he encounters an agency called The Commission, which is responsible for preserving the temporal continuity.

Number Five joins the Commission and, after numerous failed attempts, finally manages to find the equation that transports him to the past. He returns to the present and is reunited with his adoptive family, but no one believes him about his adventure in the future. He decides to investigate on his own and find the glass eye he believes is the key to preventing the apocalypse.

After several failed attempts, Number Five joins his brother Klaus and finds out

brother

Number 1 – Luther

Luther from The Umbrella Academy | Netflix British actor Tom Hopper, known for his role as Sir Percival in Merlin and Dickon Tarly in Game of Thrones, plays Luther, who was chosen by his father as Number 1 or leader of the team because of his powers that make him super strong and resilient.

Known as Spaceboy, this giant always remained loyal to Sir Reginald and his belief that The Umbrella Academy had a responsibility to save the world. That's why, after all his siblings left home and forgot their identities as heroes, Luther is the only one who continues going on missions.

It is during one of these attacks that he is seriously injured, and to save his life, his father injects him with a serum that ends up "fusing" his body with that of a gorilla. Some time later, and without much justification, he is sent to the moon for several years as part of a "special mission."

brother

Number 2 – Diego

Diego from The Umbrella Academy | Netflix Strictly speaking, the Diego we see in the series is one of the characters who underwent the most significant transformation in the comic book adaptation. Known as "the Kraken," his power consists of launching blades and bending their trajectory through space at will.

Thus, along with his skills and fighting speed, he is one of the most skilled members of the entire Academy. That's why his father chose him as Number 2, which constantly puts him at odds with his brother Luther, who unsuccessfully tries to fulfill his role as captain.

In the series, he is played by David CastaƱeda, the Mexican actor known for his role as Nicholas in the series Jane the Virgin.

Brother

Number 4 – Klaus

Klaus from The Umbrella Academy | Netflix Enigmatic, drug-addicted, and deeply damaged, Klaus is one of the funniest characters and one who evolves the most throughout the story. His ability, as we see from the first episode, is to communicate with the dead and (SPOILER), in the later episodes, even summon them.

However, to reach the full potential of his powers he must be completely sober, which is something really difficult for this disturbed character.

Note that along with Number 5, he is one of the few members who manages to travel through time without anyone's help.

He is portrayed by Robert Sheehan, the Irish actor who played the role of Nathan Young in the series Misfits, for which he was nominated for a BAFTA award in 2010.

Number 6 – Ben

Ben from The Umbrella Academy | Netflix Little is known in the series about Ben, who is known as The Horror because of his dark powers, since terrifying and bloodthirsty monsters live inside him.

In the story, he died a few years after Number 5 decided to travel through time, but the exact reasons are unclear (more details will probably be revealed in future seasons, if there are any).

Thanks to his powers, Klaus is the only one who can see him and communicate with him constantly. In fact, in the season finale, they manage to form a great team.

In the show, he is played by Justin H. Min.

Number 7 – Vanya

Vanya from The Umbrella Academy | Netflix Although she is initially the only sister in the entire Academy who does not have powers, Vanya's role is pivotal in the story of the series.

Constantly displaced by her father and brothers, who throughout her childhood made her feel "less special" than them for not having powers, Vanya had to develop other skills.

This is how he begins to practice with the violin, the same instrument that years later will serve as a catalyst for the power that his father hid from him since his childhood.

What is her power? It's not entirely clear, but all we know is that by simply concentrating she can make the energy around her vibrate, being able to destroy or control the movement of any object.

In the comic, and in the last chapter of the series, we know that Vanya is known as The White Violin, a kind of villain who ends up causing the apocalypse while fighting with her brothers from the Academy.

The character is played by Ellen Page, who manages to imbue this character, who in the comic is almost pure evil, with humanity and kindness.

Number 3 – Allison

Allison from The Umbrella Academy | Netflix Known as The Rumour, the character played by Emmy Raver-Lampman is a movie superstar who has the power to change reality and what a person thinks by simply telling a lie.

In the series we can see her power in action very few times, since, after a problematic family episode, she herself forbids herself from using it.

He is a vital character in the plot, especially because of the strange pseudo-romantic relationship he has maintained with Luther since childhood, and because of his relationship with Vanya, as he tries to include her in the family dynamics.

Pogo

Pogo from The Umbrella Academy | Netflix The Umbrella Academy's butler is this serious, talking chimpanzee. How can Pogo talk? How did his relationship with Sir Reginald Hargreeves begin?

These are details that remain unclear. What we do know is that Pogo is keeping many secrets about the children's past, secrets that, as the episodes progress, end up exploding like bombs in the faces of those involved.

Thanks to the magic of special effects, he is brought to life by British actor Adam Godley, who previously appeared in series such as Homeland, Merlin, and Breaking Bad.

Number 8

During the time that Five was with me, we were in love, and after he left I was devastated. Little by little I got out and met my husband, and I'm happy with him. Until Five appeared, my power is any coder in the world.

Prompt

Hello eight, it's been a long time. Entering the mansion for Reginal's funeral
