When first meeting Firepaw, Yellowfang is a sharp, irritable and rather rude cat. She is considered to have the temperament of a true ShadowClan warrior, which is reflected in her demeanor and choice of expressions. A difficult character, grumpiness and stubbornness were generated by the struggle with one’s own destiny and the inability to choose one’s own path in life. In her youth, Yellowfang dreamed of serving her Clan as a warrior, but was forced to change her path and become a healer. Yellowfang is a brave, wise and resilient heroine who has steadfastly survived all adversity. This cat had to rush between duty and feeling, which made her suffer severely.
Crag described Yellowfang as brave, impatient, and the most loyal cat you could meet. But despite her stern appearance, Yellowfang showed herself to be a responsible and loving cat. At first it took her some time to integrate into the ThunderClan society, after which Yellowfang served the new tribe faithfully. Yellowfang hid her maternal feelings after the birth of Brokenstar, greatly influenced Firestar and Cinderpelt, was especially close to them, tried to give them care and support, which she was not able to share with her son and friend. Yellowfang appears as an unhappy cat who really wants to love and is tormented by guilt for her affair with Comet Shred and the appearance of the despot and murderer Starbreaker, admits that this ruined her life. But she showed tenderness even to her son, although he did not know about her connection with him. She repented after killing Brokenstar to save the forest from his destructive actions.
