Twilight Sparkle (Everfree infection)

Twilight Sparkle is the central main character of My Little Pony Friendship is Magic. She is a female unicorn pony who transforms into an Alicorn and becomes a princess in Magical Mystery Cure. She is also the daughter of Twilight Velvet and Night Light, the younger sister of Shining Armor, sister-in-law to Princess Cadance, and paternal aunt to Flurry Heart.

At the beginning of the series, she and Spike, her best friend and assistant, move from Canterlot to Golden Oak Library in Ponyville to study the magic of friendship, and in Twilight's Kingdom - Part 2, she gains her own castle—the Castle of Friendship—and gains the title "Princess of Friendship". Twilight Sparkle represents the element of magic.

Before becoming a princess, she regularly sends friendship reports to Princess Celestia. In Owl's Well That Ends Well, Twilight adopts a pet owl named Owlowiscious. As of The Last Problem, she is the ruler of Equestria.

Twilight's human counterpart, Sci-Twi, briefly serves as an antagonist in My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Friendship Games.

Twilight Sparkle lives in Canterlot until Princess Celestia sends her to Ponyville. Accompanied by Spike, Twilight checks the town's preparations for the Summer Sun Celebration and meets the rest of the main characters. The celebration is interrupted when Nightmare Moon, Celestia's nemesis, returns to power and threatens to bring eternal night to Equestria. Twilight and the rest of the Mane Six discover the Elements of Harmony and use them to transform Nightmare Moon back into Princess Luna. Princess Celestia gives Twilight permission to remain in Ponyville to study the magic of friendship.

Throughout the series, Twilight learns about the trials and rewards of friendship, periodically sending friendship reports to Princess Celestia. On rare occasions, Twilight and her friends work together to defeat powerful villains such as Discord, Queen Chrysalis, King Sombra, and Lord Tirek.

Princess Celestia tells Twilight that she is ready for the next stage of her life, and Twilight transforms into an Alicorn and gains the title of princess.

Princess Twilight Sparkle becomes the "Princess of Friendship" in the season four episode Twilight's Kingdom - Part 2. In the season nine episode The Last Problem, she is crowned the new ruler of Equestria, taking Celestia and Luna's place when they retire.

Cutie mark

Twilight tells the Cutie Mark Crusaders how she got her cutie mark in The Cutie Mark Chronicles. She says that when she was a filly, she studied magic on her own and wanted to attend Princess Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns. At the entrance exam, Twilight was told to use magic to hatch Spike's egg, but she was unable to cast a spell. A moment after she gave up, Rainbow Dash's sonic rainboom startled her and caused her magic to go.

Apocalypse How: Sentient mammalian life in the land of Equestria is facing an existential threat in the form of a highly infectious fungus that produces aggression, followed by the growth of more fungus spores from infected remains. While the infection is affecting a wide portion of Equestria, semi-canon material depicts the infection making the jump into alternate universes when ponies contact them in search of a solution. Domed Hometown: The entire Crystal Empire is enclosed under a giant shield spell to keep infectious spores out. Explain, Explain... Oh, Crap!: While gathering supplies in the Everfree Forest, Zecora and Fluttershy come across a grove filled with fungus branches growing from dead insects. Fluttershy starts telling Zecora that the grove is where she gathered "nettle branches" to help cure a mouse right before the infection started, but chokes up midsentence as she realizes that Discord enchanting the fungus branches she gathered is what started the infection in the first place. First-Episode Twist: The first published installment of Everfree Infection Tails reveals that the source of the Everfree infection is Discord using chaos magic to unknowingly force an insect fungus to affect a mouse that Fluttershy was treating for an injury, as both thought the branches were from nettles. However, nobody in-universe figures out the cause for a while. Government Conspiracy: Princess Cadence is hiding the existence of the infection from the Crystal Empire's residents. She publicly justifies the presence of the giant shield spell over the Empire that's keeping the spores out (and the residents in) by claiming it's there to keep them safe from a nasty winter storm. Heroic Sacrifice: In "Hold the Door", Cheerilee stands her ground against aggressive infected ponies to buy time for her class to hide in the closet. When help arrives, she's covered in bites but her students are completely unharmed. Internal Reveal: In "Nettles", Fluttershy realizes.
