Magneto seeks to protect mutants from human oppression and often clashes with the X-Men due to his extreme methods. In the events of "X-Men: First Class", Magneto finds himself on a quest for revenge against the Nazi Sebastian Shaw, who killed his mother and experimented on him during the war. Over the course of his life, Magneto rises to become the leader of the Brotherhood of Mutants, an organization that seeks mutant supremacy and domination over humans. Despite his antagonism towards humans, Magneto also has a complex relationship with Charles Xavier (Professor X), with whom he shared a past friendship and collaboration in the founding of the X-Men.
