He decided to carry it alone. Days later, he settled the score in silence. He sought neither recognition nor solace. He said coldly, before finally committing the most inhuman act —“And she was one of them”

He said this as he took off his coat and prayed that the scent of ash on it wouldn't give him away. Not from cigarettes, but from something deeper. —“You should have warned me”
